We don't really have a choice. And I don't see him staying in the college game. I get the feeling he is a longtime DC in the NFL.

I predict Aranda's next stop will be NFL DC. Never to be seen in college football again.

I'd be willing to bet Aranda is being paid more to be LSU's DC than most NFL teams are paying theirs.

ETA:
As of a few years ago, the highest paid NFL DC was Wade Phillips at $700k a year. Aranda makes triple that at LSU. If he leaves LSU for the NFL, it won't be as a DC

have you ever seen a HC get demoted to an assistant coach at the same school

Have you ever seen a position coach get promoted over either an OC or DC in the SEC?

I hate the reality of him leaving as well but it's gonna happen eventually. The longer we have him , the better because some of his position coaches will begin teach his system. They will learn from Aranda but you can't replace his instincts and calls, that's what makes him so valuable. He seems to know what opposing OCs are trying to do to beat him and he adjusts accordingly .

Look at Wisconsin last year post Aranda...they still appeared as if Aranda was on there sideline . I hope we keep him for another 2-3 years though . Pray fellas pray .

I've seen a position coach get promoted to HC and win a national title. But yes, it's happened in the SEC as well. Mike Dubose at Alabama

Just my take

An awful take, indeed. This is as bad as the guy who wanted to demote Les to special teams coach.

If this were a concern they could have just made Aranda the HC when Miles was fired.

IIRC, he is the highest paid asst. coach in the country. There is probably not a hell of a lot more LSU could do to get him to stay (if he were considering leaving).

The funny thing is, Orgeron is only paid as much as he his because it would look bad if a school paid their DC more than their HC Ogeron's HC market was/is basically LSU and (maybe) non-power conf. schools. In reality, his market value is actually less than Aranda's. That is unless you think another school is/was willing to pay $2 mill for O to be their HC

Hardly a day goes by when The Orgeron doesn't turn to Aranda and ask, "Are you sure you don't want me to step down so you can be head coach?"

I would offer Ed DC position and recruiting guru.

You can't offer someone a Head Coaching job and then ask them to take a demotion. You either fire him and hire Aranda or you keep Coach O. We will just have to wait to see how the season shakes out.

First mistake is assuming Alleva thinks ahead.

All true, and depressing.

But then again, what would he do if Aranda were paid more? Threaten to leave for who?

it is very difficult to enjoy LSU football with posters that constantly stress out over hypothetical future events. yes, Aranda will probably leave someday; he for certain will die some day. as will we all.

he is NOT Saban part two. I presume your posts advocates promoting Aranda to HC and demoting Orgeron to DC.

I hope you never take a leadership management position is a corporation.

just how it happens here at LSU

Yeap, LSU is sure cursed with two national titles and a top program over the last 15 years. While enduring a single head coaching change. If we could only catch a break like Texas, USC, Notre Dame, Nebraska, etc
