The elephant in the room - LSU punter Chadwick

It's called "foot"ball for a reason. He is last in the SEC in average per punt at 39.7 and also last in net average according to ESPN stats. His long is 52 yards also. We need him to step up if he can but I'm not sure he has the leg for it. I'm kinda surprised coach LK didn't get a punter from the portal. He's a weak spot and he's lucky our D is so good this year to bail him out. When I was a kid, I remember the Raiders had Ray Guy who could dominate field position and was fun to watch. When Chadwick is kicking it's like rolling the dice and crossing my fingers. /rant.

They added Hayden Craig from Florida in the portal

Yeah, Kiffin obviously went into this thing when constructing the roster saying he wasn't paying for a punter

I think Lane is getting more and more aggressive on 4th downs FWIW... doesn't help much if you're 4th and 8 on your own 30, but I think we'll be rolling the dice a lot at mid field.

I see your point...but remember that punt return at Kentucky?
If they are not good with their gunners plus the fact that an SEC ref woundn't call a block in the back unless it was to one of the other ref's, why boom a 50 yard returnable punt?

get a TRO and a permanent injunction for brad wing! still has 2 years of eligibility left.
we will claim tonsils infected gave him trouble thus fever and cognitive brain issues during his decision to leave after his RS sophomore year! doctors agree so he deserves more time!
a shitty punter is another reason for lane to go for it more.

We took a delay only for Chadwick to punt it 30 yards, downed at the 25.

It’s called football because it’s played on your feet rather than on a horse. FYI BTW

I think it's more that he regressed from last year. He averaged almost 46 yards per punt last year with a long of 71. Felt pretty good coming into the year considering how he looked last year, but he has been pretty awful. It just gets amplified too when you see two of his punts this weekend went for 27 and 31 yards.

No bullshite some of the rantards could probably punt better than him. He stinks

Fortunately, we haven't had to punt much.

He was punting into the wind on both of those too, I think.

He's only punted a total of 11 times the past 4 games. I'm ok with him punting less if we can keep scoring. Should have punted 1 fewer times against Kentucky

He was great last year but we obviously punted more

Finished No. 2 in the SEC in punting average …
Had 21 punts of 50-yards or more and 20 punts downed inside the 20-yard line
Had career-long punt of 71 yards against South Carolina
Had other long punts of punts of 68 yards at Oklahoma, 60 vs. Texas A&M and 59 at Alabama
Had at least 1 50-yard punt in all 12 regular-season games

Well we got what we didn't pay for.

He averaged 4.76 punts a game last year & he is averaging 3.125 this year.
He can still boom it just less opportunities

yeah, lost in the missed tackle and the missed penalty on the KY punt return is the fact that the punt was short, low and returnable. A better punt and it never happens.

The punter we have was 2nd best in SEC last year. Who were we supposed to go get?
