re: The committee couldn’t make it any clearer: cancel the Clemson game

I agree.. UGA just showed us that the SEC doesn't benefit from OOC games!
LSU beats clemson like UGA and lose one or two SEC games. They're out.
Meanwhile clemson can lose and win the weak ACC and in.
Or
LSU loses the clemson opener and now they're pinned against clemson for the final spot down the line even if they do well in the SEC.
Lose lose situation...

SMU should have been. There’s no reason they should be in and BYU left out. That win was completely meaningless for BYU and it nearly cost SMU a spot. So while no one this year lost out on a spot because of an OOC loss, it doesn’t mean it won’t happen. No one earned a spot with an OOC win either.

Or you could just win some games.
Beat Clemson and have the head to head over them if both end up on the bubble.
Don't lose to a pitiful Florida team that got absolutely destroyed by a "weak" ACC team in Miami.

BYU should not have lost to 5-7 Kansas.

How many 1 or 2 loss teams make the nfl playoffs every season?
The SEC is a gauntlet. It's like the NFL with parity. It is retarded to play Clemson.

even if LSU beats Clemson week 1 nobody will really care when it matters most.
i just don't think LSU needs to schedule these type of games week 1 anymore.

I’m down , let’s make it happen!

Playing Georgia didn't prevent Clemson from making the playoffs.
Your theory is bullshite.
Win your conference and you get in, OOC doesn't play a part in that scenario.

I agree with this. By all accounts, all Bama had to do was win a game they were favored by 14 points in.
They were favored by 25 against Vandy and still lost, and anyone who has been to a game there knows that it is essentially a small home game for the away team.

You can’t lose games you should win and expect to be in the playoffs. I’m sorry but if Ole Miss and Bama were really any good, they wouldn’t have lost to the unranked teams they lost to.

The "best" teams don't always make the playoffs.

yep, 11-1 >>>>> 9-3 in many ways, and they blessed that concept this year!

Why do people forget this Clemson game was scheduled forever ago. I still hold true - flex an in state opponent to week zero. They will get paid either way. Allows us to knock the rust off and be more prepared for Clemson.

If we were the LSU of old, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Problem is, we all know it's pretty likely that we will lose the game. It's not the clemson loss that kills you. It's the clemson, Bama, florida, etc losses that are gonna get you to 8-4, and in the texas bowl.

It's as if some of you expected the entire playoff to be comprised of SEC and Big Ten schools. If UGA had lost the SEC title game, should they have been left out? Imagine the precedent that would've set. We live in SEC country, we will earn our bids. Penalizing a conference champion loser in favor of teams who got to sit home would hurt the SEC more than setting a precedent based on a down year for the conference. The SEC doesn't deserve more bids. Arguing otherwise is pure bias.
Indiana, who this is really about, only lost once in one of the 2 power conferences. No way you want to set that precedent of leaving out a 1 loss Big Ten or SEC school. Blame the schedule makers. If we are questioning Indianas schedule then we need to question the validity of the Big Ten conference being on equal footing with the SEC. Because that's the standard. SEC/Big Ten>everyone else. If Indiana's schedule is weak then so is PSU, OSU and Oregon's. Can't start the line of questioning without asking all the relevant questions. The SEC doesn't want to answer the tough questions about itself. Like being below par this year.

SOS is totally irrelevant.
The ONLY thing that matters is straight W and L.
Play a cream puff OOC schedule. Win games.
