That’s what happens when a coach practices the team too hard & too much. Players from the 2011 team have said so. They were literally exhausted before the game started.

Our special teams was still plenty dog shite this year.
He's right up the road at Tulane and should be an easy get......

2011 was NOT the worst offense in history.
I can always tell who didn't live through the Hallman years.

2011 offense was just the worst ever in the last two games of that year! The 2011 SECCG and the BCSCG were hard to watch!
I've sat in Tiger Stadium and watched us lose 20-7 to Houston. And this wasn't 50 fricking years ago.
I know those games were frustrating but it's been MUCH worse. Sorry if I'm not willing to call an offense the worst ever because of how they played against Georgia and Alabama

Controversial take:
Humans trend toward mediocrity. The 2011 defense was stacked. From practice, offense knew this, so they played a low-risk style and played down to their abilities. They knew they didn’t have to carry any weight.
Same for 2023 defense. They felt the team could be good enough without maximizing their ability.
It’s a special group that can collectively maximize their effort and effectiveness without any member succumbing to the temptation of sloughing.

You know, many of us feel very strongly that the whole defensive coaching staff is a problem and needs to go. But this is Brian Kelly's team and he gets to make the hires/fires. If he should decide to retain House/defensive staff, I am going to hope that he's right. But if he is wrong and there is not a strong positive improvement next year from game 1, I personally will lose faith in him and hope he gets his walking papers.
A real coach produces an offense and a defense.

It’s 2013 on steroids
This is the correct answer and I’ve been saying that myself all season. 2013 was probably Les’ worst defense

2011 offense was definitely not the worst offense. How did you come to that conclusion?

a yards per play basis, 2023 has been better, but less plays per game than 2019-20.
We need to account for the rule changes in this scenario IMO

Overall, 2019-20 is still number 1, but it's closer than some realize, and the season isn't over yet...
Even with a horrible 2023 defense, 2019 doesn’t lost to Florida State up at halftime, doesn’t lose to Ole Miss up 49-47 with the ball with 5 minutes left, and doesn’t lose to Alabama tied at 28 with the ball late in the 3rd.
2019 is the greatest and always will be. 2023 put up incredible numbers but lacked that killer instinct.

You’re an idiot. We had a top 50 defense last year. Does that mean you love house again??
