I thought the defense was good, but we were all concerned about the second corner opposite of Greedy as being weak. I believe all of the reports that Fulton is just as talented, and he didn't miss much action because he continued to practice throughout the suspension. He appears to be a great quality teammate, and he is getting the playing time he deserves.

I think the defense can be nasty. Let us not forget we are getting Shelvin back this year as well. As Richt says, "we have some dudes."

I was thinking 8-4 before yesterday. I think we are going to beat someone or two we were not originally expected to, possibly Miami, Georgia, and (God willing) Alabama.

I think 10-2 is possible if Burrow plays well and Ensminger performs to O's hype. I expect us to be competitive in nearly every game. The rest may come down to some luck. We needed some news to give us some life, and I think this will help immediately against Miami. We have a good chance I think.

10-2 would be insane given our schedule. Even if we were coming into this season with almost no question marks, going 10-2 would be very difficult. Let’s hope the offense really surprises us.

Fulton is not going to change the W/L ...getting him back is great news but you're overreacting. The defense was already solid.

How does Fulton make your prediction change from 8-4 to 10-2?

I'm at 8-4. If we had Ingram, I might push to 9-3.

But, I think the problems on offense, particularly on the OL are going to weigh the team down.

To get to 10 wins, Burrow would have to turn out to be a stud, or the OL would have to somehow become elite. The latter almost guaranteed isn't happening, IMO. And, the former would be something we haven't seen in a long time.

Is I still the head coach? Is so my W/L hasn’t changed.

It won't do anything. LSU offense has ranked in the bottom half of the SEC for the last four seasons. Add new QB, regardless of how good you think he is even Mettenberger needed a year to adjust once starting, new offensive line, new WRs and RBs, 7-5 seems about right. Defense may be stacked but it does you no good to hold opponents to 20 points a game if you struggle to score 25.

Getting Fulton back helps with depth and he certainly has potential. But let's not overreact to getting a player back who has very little experience thinking that he's going to make that kind of difference. That's way too high an expectation to place on one player. Even Patrick Peterson had his growing pains.

I’m thinking more like TM7 than PP here.

Fulton is capable of accounting for direct scores, which definitely affects game outcomes.

10-2 is winning every game LSU is supposed to win.

When is the last time that happened? 2011?

No one knew Matthieu was capable of that until he starting playing. We have yet to see Fulton. And don't say look at his high school reel.

I’m not going to say we “know” what he will do, but I’ll stand by what I said he’s capable of doing.

Similarities abound. Matthieu was said to be too small and that would hurt him. He had a chip on his shoulder and worked his arse off.
Fulton has been working hard while kept off the field...if you don’t think he’s going out there with everything in the world to prove, combined with elite talent, then idk what to tell you.

If the offense improves throughout the season and the running game is better than expected we can win 9 games. We will beat someone we aren’t favored to beat (Georgia, Bama, Auburn, Miami). It’s the other games we have to win and historically we drop some we shouldn’t. Even the 2007 team lost to Arkansas and fricking Kentucky when they shouldn’t have. Our defense is good enough to beat any team we play. We will be in every game because of them. It’s up to a Ensminger/Burrow combo to find a way to score some points and tip the scale in our favor.

Have 3 top 10 teams in the first half of the schedule is rough. So we gotta get going fast.

You are undoubtedly the biggest flip-flopper on this board, period.

You make grandiose statements all offseason about how terrible CEO is and how it all doom and gloom, then any hint of good news around the program and your starting threads singing a new tune.

They land burrow and a few weeks ago and suddenly "you have trust or faith in Orgeron and Ensminger"

Now you think 10-2 is possible

By kickoff of the Miami game you'll be predicting an undefeated season and natty.

I’m a little concerned with the offense just because it take time to gel and of course we open with a top 10 team. If the D dominates and carried LSU to victory its gonna be fun around here. Imo with SELA n week 2 to kinda relax and settle in offensively I believe going into Auburn there’s gonna be a ton of confidence on both sides of the ball.

Insane? In 2015 we were 9-3, had the McNeese game canceled, and played a top five SOS, but now 10-2 is insane.

It would be very good, but not anywhere near insane.

JA has done a great job at one thing. Lowering LSU football expectations.

I thought this at first, but if he is indeed everything he's hyped up to be, what's to say he doesn't prevent a touchdown from happening in the 4th quarter in a close game?

Just as adding a better quarterback could hypothetically add a touchdown or two a game, a (theoretical) lock-down corner could hypothetically prevent an extra touchdown or two. And with the prediction of mostly close games this season, you could in turn add a game or two in the win column estimate based on that alone.

Who’s to say he doesn’t intercept what would have been a TD and score one himself?
