So I was never clear about Fulwiley - why did she transfer? Was she gonna lose her playing time at SC?

Don’t think so, but she put up a lot of shots in limited minutes and it seemed Staley was always quick to pull her. She (MF) always seemed better than the minutes DS gave her.

Lady Tigers win in a squeaker 148-46

Z Johnson and Koval with double doubles

Freshmen look good. Some nice ball movement and shooting. A few defense lapses but to be expected playing everyone in so many combinations. Next exhibition game is next week.

I wasn’t expecting to learn much tonight but came away pretty damn impressed. This has to be the deepest team Mulkey has had here.

Z. Johnson did not look like a freshman at all. Excited to see her more.

Fulwiley looks to be as good as advertised.

Everybody on the team can contribute and I think we will have a better 3pt threat this year.

With the depth we should be able to play aggressive and draw some fouls. We have some slashers.

You can just tell by the way she moves she's gonna be a good one

Jada Richard is a smart passer. Effortlessly finds the open Tiger with a good look at the basket. The team runs smooth on offense when she is at point.

Koval has to stay healthy though. We need her down the stretch.

I think Koval is what we all hoped Del Rosario would be

No. She grew up in Columbia. USC was ten minutes from her house. She wanted to spread her wings and have a change of scenery. She wanted to stay in the SEC, still compete for a national championship and have a good coach. She loved LSU style of play and how they handle transition. She never even came for a visit because she knew she wanted to come here. She had one phone call with Mulkey and signed.

Yeah, I watched this short of her today and she talks about SC. YT

Z Johnson looks more like a star transfer than a freshman damn. Hope she can keep that up as the comp improves.

South Carolina is picked #2 in the SEC this season. Texas is picked #1. We play Texas twice. LSU is picked third.

nah, we're finishing #1. south carolina lost kitts and watkins. the bigs they have left--based on what i saw tonight, lsu bigs are gonna run circles around them. edwards is the only one with any real talent.
texas looked horrible and lost against the canadian U23 team this summer. granted, oldacre didnt play, but she's slow anyway. and these lsu bigs look pretty quick and athletic.

i'd say the tigers should def be frontrunners for winning the sec.

I think this team is talented enough to go all the way, I’ve seen enough. I like Koval, Z. Johnson and Knox have a lot of upside and only will grow, and our backcourt rotation is so damn deep especially
Staley fricked, SEC fricked

They have Okot who transferred from Mississippi State who is pretty good.

Yarnovich played with more agression in her 10 or so minutes than ADR did her entire career here.

I know it is only 18 min of play against a smaller squad, but she is definitely an upgrade, and I can't wait to see her develop.

This is the truth. I half expected ADR to pull up a chair; she would go into spectator mode and be a nonfactor.

Agree totally. I am not ready to crown Koval as the next Sylvia Fowles based on last night, but she definitely looks the part of a center who has good touch around the rim on offense (and can used both hands to shoot) and who can protect the rim on defense.

She is also a good passer. LSU LOVES to run offense where one post is at the foul line and the other is in the lane and the high post can feed the low post. Koval looks like she will definitely fit there. She made a couple of nice passes.

LSU has not really had a true "post up" center since Mulkey has been here. Del Rosario would have been that had she panned out. If Koval can be a legit offensive force in the paint, that will open up this offense so much and the shooters on the outside should get some great looks.

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that. She seemed to be a little pudgy last year and it looks like she has shed those extra pounds.
