You are either a troll or you don’t get what’s happening. The buyout requires Kelly to get another job. So the “Kelly can’t find a job” is now null and void. So Kelly has to find a job and it can’t be the cook at Popeyes. He has to earnestly seek and secure equitable employment. Now we’ll see who he blames when he can’t get that job.

Why? Because Kelly decided to throw a legal tantrum?

Everything you think you know about this situation came from the Kelly side. He is a sack of shite, and your comments basically prove that.

The reason you don't know anything from the LSU side is because they don't have anything that would actually help them win the case in court. All the cheating on his wife and playing golf shite is message board fodder that wouldn't amount to anything legally.

This is not news. LSU screwed this up from a public relations perspective. I hope OceanMan is OK.

Thanks for the shoutout

He got exactly what he wanted out of it and LSU looked bad from the outside during it.

Not sure how you can view this as a win for LSU.

I’m talking about everything that’s happened since he was fired.

Uh yeah. I don’t think LSU considered going this direction.

Brian Kelly offered 45mm earlier in negotiations. Great job tigers.

I don’t at all. I don’t think Kelly has gone about this in a very respectable way and could have landed in this same position without creating a spectacle.

If an LSU representative truly brought up firing for cause in discussions, which I think is likely, then he handled it as well as needed.

I supported his hiring and was hopeful he was another businesslike cerebral coach ala Saban. I ignored all the hate and assumed he’d do what it takes to bring a trophy here.

Turns out he was just a burn out a-hole ready to retire.

I highly doubt it’s $54 million in full in 1 lump sum.

Well of course not. He gets paid monthly to the tune of just under 800K. Same schedule as when he was the coach.

Yep, offset by however much he is getting paid.

Which would be the present value of the buyout, and if that offer was real, it would be without mitigation duties.

Per Kelly’s lawsuit, LSU offered him $25M during the meeting he got fired, and $30M later that day - without mitigation.

Isn't Kelly the one that started all of this by filing his suit? If he had just accepted the proposed buyout when it was offered, it would have been over with weeks ago.

Not sure what you mean by this. Kelly filed his suit after LSU refused to pay the full amount. The proposed buyout was a lot less than the amount guaranteed by the contract.

An embarrassed in Woodward.
From the beginning it was a bad contract. Pay the man and learn from it. Even if he wins back to back Nattie he would be asking for another 5 million a year. It's just the business side of doing things these days

I agree that the way Kelly’s attorneys presented the fact pattern made it look pretty well justified.

LSU never refused to pay the full buyout.

The contract is not guaranteed. It has a mitigation clause, and LSU was offering to remove it.

Earlier this week, Kelly was very eager to find a new job. Well in a few days, there will be a ton of openings so we will see just how willing he is to perform his duty to mitigate. And we will be able to see how good of a deal he got by not taking the buyout offer.

I'm starting to lean into the idea that Scott Woodward fired Brian Kelly thinking he had the support of everyone above him. He did not. Then he gets fired and the legal portion of firing a coach didn't get carried out due to SW not being there.

Was a bit of a clown show due to BK's lawyer filing suit. But, we got a President, Chancellor, and an AD and now things are figured out.

The only person who looked like a fool in this is governor Landry. We'll be okay.
