I liked Herman and still think he would have had a better record here.
That being said, O has rounded into a fine hire.
He just needs to keep recruiting at a high level and make only good staff decisions going forward and he can be great.

I was so glad when we didn't get Herman. I looked at him as small-time and unproven. At least with O we knew we were getting someone who's coached P5 before, did well as our interim, and is a great recruiter. But I'd be lying if I said his OM track record didn't make me nervous.

I was always scared to get rid of Les because it’s so hard to find a good coach...
I never wanted Herman but I would have been happy with Jimbo...
I didn’t bash O because once he was hired he deserved a chance to be successful...I had a lot of hope because I knew O was a great recruiter and I liked how we looked in his stint as interim.

Jimbo was still butthurt after we hung him out to dry the year before so he would only have come for a ridiculous amount of money

Herman was able to make a Saban defense look bad at Ohio St. Therefore I wanted him.
Come to find out that Orgeron can make a Saban defense ( with a good OC) look bad also.
Orgeron is getting LSU back on top.
