I don't see how anybody can really be sold on Garza being the answer behind the plate. Mathis is very fundamental, mostly, but still has some serious issues. They were both dubbed as very good defensive catchers. I would not yet agree with that for Mathis. Time will tell about Garza, but I'm not expecting him to be a ton better...especially right out of the gate.

Mathis is a good defensive catcher it’s just his arm that is lacking.

You’ve literally never seen a single inning of Garza catching so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt as well

Back in the day if you walk the lead off runner skipper would walk out to the mound and give you a good talking to and everyone would know it. If u do it in the ninth he’s yank your arse.

The thing about Garza is he is supposed to be Hercules at the plate. We have yet to see his strength that CPM raged on preseason.

His pattern in juco and summer ball was to start slow but hit HRS in bunches later in the season as he adjusted. I wish we were still getting him at bats to help him adjust.
