Scott is giving him a chance with Nil money. I don't care how good of a coach you are, you aren't winning in the SEC with the talent had this past year. We keep some key players and bring in a top notch player or two, and a PG, and give the guy a chance. LSU was like a fighter in a fight with one arm tied behind his back. I know the haters don't want to hear that, but it is true.

Do y’all even remember Dale Brown making multiple final four’s or John Brady going to the final four?

Why do we talk about Dale Brown like he was something special? He went to the NCAA tournament half the time he was a coach here. He had a run where we were in it every year but over his career there were a lot of average years. Not counting 2020 WW made it 3/4 years.

Yes, the program sucks but the time people waste complaining about something that they can't affect is unreal.

Does making the tournament 3/4 years automatically vault you to best coach in school history?

LOL. Now WW was a better coach than Brown at LSU. You can't make this shite up. You are obviously a participation type guy, because LSU was never going on a big run with WW. He was on the bench for 1 Trny win.

Yes I remember Brown. Yes, his last years were not good, at all, with a lot of chaos, not unlike many long-term coaches. But in the 80s and early 90s LSU basketball was phenomenal, and nothing that WW has done at LSU came close to that. Not only a few final fours, but also several other very deep runs. There was always a chance when LSU/Brown got into the trny. He was a cheating Bobby Knight from making it 3 final fours. Even the early 90s were very exciting. Yes, LSU lost out to GA Tech, but Ga Tech was as talented, or maybe more talented than LSU with Shaq.

Texas also spent LOADS more on their collective. They had much higher expectations than us

I mean this the "Rant" after all and it looks like we're ranting about something that isn't clearly projected to the fan base. If this was told to us in the beginning maybe we aren't as pissed with the basement performances. Maybe there is more support for the players. Instead it's drawn up like the worst hire ever and the admin just back it up like money is the problem.

No it does not, but I didnt say it did. We will never know what he could have done with a long term here. We can only go off what he did on the court.

If you remember Brown then you should remember it took him 6 years to make the tournament. Obviously, things are different now but we can only go off what we see. We can't say WW would never have gone on a big run at LSU bc you dont know. If he never does anything at NCST then I will agree to that.

Care to comment on how many teams made the tournament back then?

I also believe we had 0 interest in spending >$10M in a buyout + hiring new coach.

We didn’t. Not sure why people are downvoting lol. Guess they really believe it took the powers that be 3 years to figure out they weren’t investing enough in basketball. I don’t believe they’re stupid. It was a bs narrative bc they can’t come out and say we aren’t gonna pay the buyout yet

Put it this way. Texas is going to fire a guy, who has led them to 3 straight tournaments, following a season 19-15 (6-12), over half of this board and LSU fans would want to throw McMahon a parade for "achieving".

It is abundantly clear the administration doesn't care about MBB and are more than happy to sit at the bottom of league while everyone else wants to compete. Hell, maybe Terry should seek the LSU job? Woodward would agree to a 9 year contract if Terry could produce these kind of results!!!

The ones who aren't professional virtue signalers (of which there are a LOT in Austin) are. It's Texas. They think they are about to waive a magic wand and hire anyone they want. As if guys like Mark Few, Danny Hurley, Bill Self, Kelvin Sampson, are just sitting in their hotel rooms desperate to get the call from Texas.

Ask Kentucky how that works out.

That Texas loss back in February was a disgrace. To get drilled at home by an average Texas basketball team was another black mark for McTrash. I expected we would lose but I did think it would be a close loss.
