Del Conte and Martin have reconfigured the seating to give Texas students a contiguous bloc of seats with the Texas band blasting from the middle. They have made that student seating first-come, first-serve to get those students in the stadium and yelling. They have cut down on ads on the video boards and forbidden on-field, thanks-for-writing-that-big-check presentations if those presentations bring down the energy level in the stadium. The newcomers are trying to remind Texas fans that football games are supposed to be fun. And it just so happens that for the past two Saturdays, the team has given fans a reason to keep partying in the stands.

Kudos to their administration listening to the fans.

They've also removed all visitor seating from the lower deck of DKR Stadium. All visiting fans and their bands must now sit in the north end zone upper level.

That's gonna suck for Tiger Band and all LSU fans making the trip to Austin next fall.

Somebody should email the link to that article to Alleva and his fan council members.

Alleva says the ads and piped in music WANTED to be in TS so he put them there.

That's fine if they're OK with reciprocal treatment.

Not really. There will be Tiger fans in every section of that stadium. As for the upper deck, I suspect you'll notice a that a helluva lot of Tiger fans are having a blast up there.

LSU is not TCU.

I love this. Why the hell should the visiting fans get good seats? And with today’s secondary market it’s not like you can’t get seats field level anyways.

It would be ignored by Alleva. Why bother.

We need a DJ in the student section like Arizona State.

I hope that LSU reciprocates, but I don't think that Alleva has the balls. LSU allows visitors to have prime seats in the lower bowl. I don't think that LSU can change that for just one game.

Also, it will be interesting to see how many tickets each school is allotted for this game. Texas normally gives non-conference foes only 4K tickets. Doesn't the SEC mandate at least 7K, with a certain percentage in the lower level?

But LSU can make more money shafting the students and selling the good tickets for more to the general public.

next on the list is charging every vehicle coming onto campus and putting a dollar amount on each head in the vehicle....

They'll have the better part of a year to figure it out. My understanding is that Big12 teams allot 4,000 for visitors, while SEC does double that...

True. Big XII allots 4K tickets for visitors while the SEC allots 7K.

This would only exacerbate the problem. We need more tiger band performances from the stands.

That only applies to SEC games. SEC schools can do whatever they want for non conference games.

LSU has entirely too many breaks for ads, presentations, etc. that mess with the flow. I realize that they can't do anything about the TV commercial breaks, but they drown out the band with piped in music and Dan Borne droning on endlessly with commercials.

Does anybody remember when Borne asked the fans to sing happy birthday to the Louisiana Lottery and the fans booed like crazy?
