Terrace Marshall...Always felt like he had the tools to be as elite as Chase and Jefferson

Random Saturday thoughts… I often find myself puzzled how things never came together for this guy after college. Always felt like he had the tools to be as elite as Chase and Jefferson. Had a few untimely injuries and not the best QBs throwing to him, but overall just confusing case.

Same. Totally thought he was going to be successful in the NFL

To me he had the most potential of the 3. I think you answered your question.
Maybe he can get with Burrow and Chase again.

It is curious, but not unusual. All the talent, drive, skill and brains are not enough. It takes going to the right team, timing and many other things to be successful at that level. Fortunately the injuries haven't been bad enough and situations bad enough to where is not getting other chances. It sucks but at least the opportunities have been there for him to bank away money for his life after football if he played his cards right.

He was more just physically gifted athletically than a great WR.

Well your talent evaluation is horrible

He has 1 yr of eligibility left. Under the new bs of NIL, unlimited transfers, are they still considered student athletes?
We could use a #1 wr, asking for a friend.

He may have caught a lot of tds at LSU but he wasn’t a first round talent.
Bowe
OBJ
Jarvis
Jetta
Chase
Nabers
All of them immediately became their teams #1 after they were drafted. He didn’t have the mentality for the NFL. Same for Boutte.

He’s always been a guy who’s struggling with injuries, even pre LSU, with most of the injuries being lower leg injuries I think that just errodes your explosion / speed at some point
Had some injuries at LSU. Throw that lessened explosion into a bad NFL situation to start his career and it’s not a recipe for success
Making an NFL roster, let alone being an impact player takes so many variables outside of just player talent. It really shouldn’t be that surprising when anyone doesn’t pan out. The odds are that most players won’t.
And when you aren’t a first rounder, your value depreciates like a used car until you perform. Another new line of cars really to hit the market in the next draft. Better be good quick or the wind will change again.

Freshman year: Fractured his tibia (shin bone)
Sophomore year: Missed three games with a stress fracture
Junior year: Missed most of the season with an ankle injury, but was still named the Shreveport Times Male Athlete of the Year

Go back and look at TDs. His speed and ability to go get it. He had better ball skills than both Chase and Jefferson. That is without question. He had 13 TDs in 2019 in 12 games. Let that sink in for a minute and was Burrow’s favorite target in the endzone to go get it in high pointing a ball. He wasn’t a 5* for no reason.
He led the team with TDs the first half of the season until he was injured. The only thing he needed to improve on was his release - HENCE POTENTIAL. But injuries did slow him down at LSU.

Keep an eye on him next year.
He’s good.

He’s tall and fast. He could cook any college DB by that alone.
In the league where everyone is tall and fast you have to rely on elite route running, footwork, flexibility, balance, etc and he didn't shine like he did in college.

Every player deals with injuries along the way.
At the end of the day you’re playing with professionals. He has 1 TD in his NFL career so far.
Injuries are not a good excuse. He’s not cut out to be a star in the NFL. Going to Carolina isn’t a good excuse either.
I can list a boat load of receivers that were on shite teams with bad/average QBs that have had more success in less than one season than Terrace has had his entire career.
Jett’s is taking Darnold to the playoffs. Terrace couldn’t get open for him.
Bowe had Damon Huard
Nabers had Jones and a guy that looks like he was in a Bronx Tale.
Jarvis had an average Tannehill
Look at McLaurin in Wash
And on and on. The NFL was too big for him.
