I wouldn't think that they stole the signals. But LSU in the past few years has been very aggressive on trying to steal bases. I think TT was taking educated guesses on when we might run. It would be interesting to know if there is a trend when we run in terms of the count, and where we are in the game.

PM is like Miles, let Dunn handle the pitching and pitching changes. I know you have to know what Peterson can do but just as I agreed leaving Gilbert in Sat for the 9th, Newman could've closed that game out by himself.
It was a bad offensive weekend but the pitching was outstanding in tournament.
SEC did not put up a good showing.
I'm ok with the hit and run after 4 balls to Coomes, that is PM and you knew that pitcher was going to have to groove one.
Only complaint was trying to get into Sunday's game, they closed gates that had been open all weekend and made fans stand in pouring rain while waiting on security to let fans through when the crowds were the lightest.

quote:We know what he'll do. He's done it. Romero caught last year and was able to hold on to that job mostly because of his serviceable defense which, at times, as as good as Pap's.
If a player can't hit consistently and isn't at the top defensively, what should a coach do? One more weekend and a couple mid-week games left to iron things out.

I'm just going to assume you don't remember all of his outings.
That's obviously true, let me rephrase to I thought he threw very well. Don't want to rustle any jimmies.

I was mostly pleased with the bullpen this weekend.
Our approach at the plate was pretty bad Friday, but then again I can't say I've ever seen a strike zone move and change so much. Saturday was a pretty solid game. I enjoyed Sunday's game right up until the kick.

What is your take on the several base runners early on who were caught stealing?

The scoreboard segments could have been produced better, but I didn't mind the on-the-field stuff. No different than the muscle cam, kiss cam, etc.
I'm talking about the constant parade of people sitting in for an inning. The announcers weren't the best to begin with, that added responsibility made it hard to listen to. Also, sometimes I am up doing things and rely on the audio to know what is going on. Many innings contained very little description of what was actually happening on the field.

Thats good scouting imo. Dunn has had the 2 consecutive pitchouts plenty while at lsu. Good job by tech

quote:"that is PM" isn't a rational reason to do it. And wasn't the pitcher trying to "groove one" to Coomes on 2-0 and 3-0? How did that go? Beau fouled off a ball way out of the zone btw. He saw 4 pitches and only 1 was a strike. He swung at all of them.

Are we still surprised by this at this point? Beau is described as aggressive, but I prefer to just think of it as a free swinger. Guy loves to hack.

He had an absolutely terrible weekend at the plate.

My one takeaway this weekend is lack of bullpen depth. I think we miss Norman and Cartwright more than we think. I do think our bullpen will develop as the season progresses, but after Friday night with Gilbert and Newman, who are you turning to on Saturday and Sunday? Bain seems like the best option at this point regardless of him being long relief or not.

Smith has never seen that quality pitching, if he struggles during SEC play look for Reid to get some more PT

He is a liability on defense, offense, and on the base paths. I'm so tired of seeing him whiff at curve balls in the dirt with a booty swing.
Duplantis still doesn't look entirely comfortable at the plate. Wouldn't mind seeing he and Slaughter swap for a little while so Duplantis can see some better pitches. Slaughter didn't have his best weekend though.

Once SEC comes around, PM *should* use who he has to. That includes Hess even though he's our midweek guy. I also think that Peterson can be reliable as well as Reynolds in the right situation.

Plate approach Friday night felt like a throwback to the Javi days, just a lot of really poor ABs that you didn't see as much under Andy.
CPM set himself up to take some serious heat with the Gibbs promotion if it doesn't work out. Not panicking or anything yet but that was concerning.
