Yes because Edward's was clearly showcasing her talents in the Regionals...Jesus Christ.

What an idiotic response. She was an all American. Yes no one will want her since she didn’t hit well in 2 games.

I always thought that Beth has been here so long and most of her success was because she was a great developer of pitchers. And its been the hitting that has held us back all these years.

Why people keep saying this? LSU is not short of money on the athletic department funds. The better question is do they care enough about softball to do what you suggest because 1.3 million is absolutely peanuts compared to the war chest in rainy day funds the athletic department has.

I wonder if the rising expense and demand of women's basketball has negatively effected how much the administration cares about softball?

All I said was that she didn't show up in the regional, and that is a fact....it happens....but I believe she went o for....so idiotic or not, it was a terrible showing

That was definitely her calling card. Something is amiss
Posted on 5/20/25 at 7:40 pm to Mandtgr47
No she didn’t play well. But neither did several players. Believing that has any impact on a contender making a run at her is wrong.

Are you basing that on inside knowledge or just an outsider’s perspective of what you think the players ought to do? She came to LSU in the first place for a reason. They have lost in the regionals 3 of the last 4 years, so it’s not like he perception of the program should be materially different than it was when she signed. It was a disappointing end to the season, but the team showed promise. I’m not convinced Torina knows how to get her team over the hump any more, but that doesn’t mean the players think that or they wouldn’t be on the team in the first place.

I really can’t imagine anyone besides Oklahoma having an NIL war chest for softball
Actually Texas Tech has an immense war chest--as evidenced by the Canady deal.

People are gonna need to accept they aren’t gonna buy her out. They’ll let the contract expires (after they just extended her last summer)

This is my biggest reservation about firing Torina. I also think now is not the time to blow up what could be a WCWS caliber roster, but with Berzon leaving, I’m less inclined to believe that is the case. If there is any further attrition, that’s probably a non-factor. They’d be back in re-building mode anyway.
I’m just not sure realistically who they could get that is clearly better than Torina, even looking at only her most recent downturn. Oklahoma, Florida, Florida St, and UCLA are the only programs to win national titles since 2014. I don’t see any of those coaches coming to LSU, though obviously any would be an upgrade. Oklahoma State, Alabama, Washington, and Arizona are the only other programs with more than 2 WCWS appearances since 2017 and Oklahoma State is the only one of those programs not in decline (maybe not as bad as LSU, but they aren’t up-and-comers). A&M went hard after Kenny G, but he stayed put, so I see no reason to believe he would take the LSU job. Texas, Stanford, and Georgia are the only other programs with 2 WCWS appearances since 2017. White isn’t coming to LSU, Stanford just rode Canady to the WCWS, and Georgia’s coach retired.
That’s it for potential candidates with a better track record than Torina since 2017. If they fire her, they are going to have to gamble on someone unproven. I’m to a point where I don’t have confidence Torina can get back to that level, but I don’t see any obvious home run hires that seem attainable either.
