Here's an answer from an outsider who has seen several games at the Superdome, including the 2000 National Championship between VT and FSU, VT v. TX in 95 Sugar, VT v. AUB in 2003 Sugar

Been to many many LSU games and a Saints Season Ticket Holder.. I have to say that TS is louder in Big Games.. On avg the Dome is louder but every game in the NFL is pretty big.

Referring to Saints games in the dome, not Va Tech games.

love dem Saints...
but seriously.... is easier to be loud in your house or your backyard?
typical condon... just trying to shock the listeners... maybe some LSU fans will take it personal... I hope.

true, superdome is the loudest venue in sports
Yeah, when LSU is playing in the National CHampionship game or the Sugar Bowl.
The Dome can get loud BUT it is a DOME, it should be loud. Death Valley does not have a dome & I can tell you, if it DID have a dome......I think the NCAA may have to outlaw games there, reason: Unable to continue hosting games at Tiger Stadium, noise level too intense & dangerous for the players, officials, & fans.
G E A U X T I G E R S!!!

Yeah, when LSU is playing in the National CHampionship game or the Sugar Bowl.

volume isn't the only factor in intimidation

at least LSU looks beatable; the Saints don't and they won't be beaten, either.
Saints go unbeaten, break the 1972 Dolphins record & win the Superbowl?
hmm.

The Superdome may be louder at times but it comes nowhere close to being as intimidating. What history do the Saints have that would cause other teams to be intimidated? You can't just look at acoustics, you have to look at the teams that play in those venues. LSU is much more intimidating program than the Saints have ever been. Tiger Stadium hands down!

the original debate to my understanding is which is more intimidating. so, considering college kids play in TS and professionals play in the Dome, i think its easy to say that TS is much more intimidating. Loudness...? thats another issue

Yea, the Doom is really scary, especially with that too loud piped in rap music - oh man, I bet the Saints' opponents are just shaking in there on Sundays, they are so scared. You obviously have never attended a really big game at Tiger Stadium. Too bad, looks like you won't again this Saturday night!

true or false?
Condon is making this claim right now....do you agree?

This issue is all about perspective.
I think first of all, we truly do live in football heaven right now, having what are undoubtedly the toughest venues in both college and the NFL.
Alot of the intimidation comes from not only the physical venue and crowd, but from the teams that play there.
LSU has been a great team (on and off) for 50 years now. The history of LSU's success is a big part of the intimidation of TS. The same cannot be said of the Saints. We have had great teams only twice in Saints history (i'll count 2000 team as just good). These periods did lead to an intimidating venue because of added fan support of legit teams.
That takes us to now. I think we would all agree this Saints team is probably the best in team history (thus far). Plus the emotions that came from Katrina, the Monday Night Falcons game, and the entire '06 season add up to a venue that has no peers among NFL buildings right now. Likewise, LSU has had unprecedented success during this decade, which is filled with individual games that we all draw on for energy and hope during current games. This leads to people knowing that the Tigers will ALWAYS have a chance in TS, no matter the opponent.
So to me, at this moment in time, they are equal. They are different manifestations of largely the same fanbase. One is the continuing effort to defend and elevate a proven winner. One is the chance to forever replace terrible memories with a joy many thought would never happen.
