That’s my whole mindset to everything,” Brady says. “Like I want high expectations for everything we do, in the receiver room, for everybody. That receiver room has to be able to pick everything up, and we’re throwing an NFL offense at them, which has been impressive to me. When the defensive coaches are like, ‘Man, how are you receivers able to handle all of this?’ And I’ll ask our guys, ‘Do you guys find this stuff too much right now?’ They’re like, ‘No, not at all.’ They’re so engaged and that really excites me as a coach. I’m excited to see it take off this year.

“Whatever expectations I had going into spring have been surpassed because of these guys, so I’m like I guess we can even do more, and they’re sitting there like ‘Coach, let’s go.’ We can keep going. Our guys are playing confidently, and when guys are playing confidently, they’ll believe in whatever you come up with. If they believe in the system, it doesn’t matter what plays you’re calling, they think it’s gonna work. The guy down the hall, Dave Aranda is the best defensive coordinator in the country, and when our guys see that we’re having success against them, this stuff works.”

The terminology is all new for the LSU players. They’re calling it just like the Saints do. Brady says it’s a big credit to veteran offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger, who has been selfless in embracing the changes. As have the players. It helps that, as Brady has told them, when they do go to the NFL, it’s going to be called the exact same way and they’re going to be running the exact same concepts.
