I looked at their stats to dig a bit deeper. Their top 7 guys in terms of innings pitched, Sellers, Kmatz, Lattery, Ferrer, Jiminez, Lawson, Hunter are all done for the weekend. Their 9th guy, Brown, is also done.
That leaves Rhett Larson as their top available arm, maybe. Keep reading for more on that. But he had 32.1 innings pitched, 5.57 ERA, 45 hits, 12 walks, 25 strikeouts. The closest guy I found to compare him to stats wise for LSU is Blake Money. 31.2 innings pitched, 5.97 ERA, 31 hits, 12 walks, 28 strikeouts. God bless Blake Money but I feel like we'd feel pretty good if we were facing him today.
Here's the interesting thing though, in conference play Larson only pitched 4.2 innings. 7.71 ERA, 9 hits, 0 walks, 3 strikeouts. Only made two appearances. Doesn't seem to have had any long layoffs which would be the sign of an injury, he just didn't pitch much for them in conference.
AJ Hutcheson pitched 14.2 innings in 13 appearances, Tyler Mejia pitched 13.2 in 10 appearances, Nelson Keljo pitched 8.0 in 8 appearances, and then you have Larson with 4.2 innings in 2 appearances. The other guys Leah mentioned, Braden Boisvert pitched 1 inning in conference, and Victor Quinn didn't pitch at all. Boisvert pitched 0.2 innings and Quinn pitched 1 inning on Friday. That's it.
Hutcheson has thrown 543 pitches on the year. Mejia 407 pitches, Keljo 405 pitches, Larson 563 pitches (season high 5 innings against Grand Canyon), Boisvert 264 pitches, Quinn 120 pitches.
So needless to say, they're out of pitching. If they somehow beat us in the early game, they'll be throwing equipment managers in the second game.

Here are the conference only stats:
Lattery: 27.1 IP, 5.60 ERA, 1.44 WHIP
Ferrer: 29.1, 3.38, 1.07
Lawson: 18.1, 3.93, 1.22
Larson: 4.2, 7.71, 2.14
Brown: 17.2, 4.08, 0.87
Hutcheson: 14.2, 4.30, 1.13
Mejia: 13.2, 5.27, 1.29
Keljo: 8, 4.50, 2.00
Thorsteinson: 0 IP
Boisvert: 1 IP
Of the guys with fewer than 40 pitches yesterday, only Hutcheson, Mejia and Keljo had any significant work in conference play. None stretched out much in those games. They are either going to have to turn to guys they didn’t trust in conference or go back to guys with significant workloads yesterday.

Thorsteinson, Keljo, and Mejia are their LHP. Everyone else is RHP.
Here are their stats from their last 6 appearances:
Thorsteinson:
9.1 IP
7ER
6.75 ERA
Mejia:
4.1 IP
11 ER
22.8 ERA
Keljo:
7.1 IP
1 ER
1.22 ERA
If I'm OSU's coach I'm rolling with Keljo, but his longest outing on the year is only 2.1. He also has not appeared twice in the same weekend all year.

quote:Unlikely. He seems to be a high leverage/high velo for one inning guy. In his 22 apparences, he's made it through 2 innings 2 times. His career high is 2.1 innings.
I'm pretty certain they're going to start or use Keljo for long relief out of the bullpen. They saved him after that 1 inning against us and we didn't put together the greatest at bats against him. I would think thats where they would go but I could be wrong.
Also looks like he hasn't thrown on consecutive days all year, shortest rest he's had is 3 days.

Quinn 120 pitches.
When they threw this kid to close out the game friday, I knew they were banking as many higher value innings as they could.
He had only thrown like 4 innings all year and had control issues. He does throw like 98 though.

No way Lattery or Ferrer pitch today

This deep dive makes me feel better than before lol. Basically they have a buncha guys who avg an inning per appearance vs inferior opponents or tired mofos. We ridin’

I think that goofy side arm dude has a lot left in him!!

If we get them throwing pitches like we did yesterday, they’re gonna be in trouble. They threw almost 60 pitches in the 1st 2 innings yesterday. If that happens again and we don’t hang 15 on them, something’s wrong

Would love to see that just for the fun of it. But let’s not push our luck lol

Good work.
Let’s just hope that they bring the bats they used against SH last night and not the ones they used against us earlier in the day. Ha.

It’s going to be really interesting to see how they play this.

Great work guys, love this type of info.
My math could be a little off, but looks like the available arms have pitched 158.2 of the 533.1 innings this season, that’s 30%. Furthermore, they’ve pitched 42 of the 288 in conference innings (32 games x9, could be more/less) for roughly 15% of the conference innings pitched.
Outside of us pulling a Tennessee or Auburn game 3 walk fest in the early innings, Hutchenson, Mejia, Keljo, and Larson are going to have to pitch their butts off in game 1 to beat us. They’ll then have to turn to 5 guys with basically zero in conference experience, or pitch Lattery, Federer, and Brown who either pitched 50+ pitches or pitched in both games just yesterday.
