Sabans staff here was stacked. It’s so nice not having a brain dead moron leading the way.

BK has assembled the strongest staff in LSU FB history.

And not even a game played. Really spectacular.

That staff included three current SEC head coaches along with one former member of that group — Alabama’s Nick Saban (sorry, LSU fans), Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher, South Carolina’s Will Muschamp and Tennessee’s Derek Dooley. And even though Dooley’s time with the Volunteers was a disappointment, he’s back in the league circle as Missouri’s offensive coordinator.

In 2004 they had all those guys, plus a new DB coach named Kirby Smart.

And the university also had Mark Emert as President with Skip Bertman, Dan Radakovic and Scott Woodward in the athletic department.

ETA-I see Sweetwater posted this already. It is amazing what a strong group that was and what could have been...

I agree. However, there is a feeling with each hire that we are quickly moving in the direction of an '03-esque staff, which is a breath of fresh air to many after the Les and O years.

Yes 2003 was legendary, but they never had to fight the way these coaches have to fight now. You have to fight to keep your current roster and recruit new talent.

I should say one of the best staffs in the SEC right now

Its already been said here, but the 2003 staff was by far the best in LSU history. I was going to argue that it might have been the best in college football, but then I looked at the 1988 staff at Miami. Jimmy Johnson, Dave Wannstedt, Butch Davis, Dave Campo, and grad assistants Tommy Tuberville and Ed Orgeron. Unreal.

Saban’s 2004 staff with Muschamp, Jimbo, Kirby Smart, Dooley, and a bunch of other future long term NFL and SEC coaches takes a gigantic shite on that staff.

This was possibly the best staff ever, not just in LSU history. 5 went on to coach at major programs, 3 different national championship coaches and between Saban, Smart, and Jimbo will be in contention for the foreseeable future.

And wasnt UGA's current AD Josh Brooks working in the equipment room? that locker room was stacked.

I guess it might make sense to let this staff coach a game or two before we throw this kind of stuff out there.

Agree, talked to a Bama fan and he is worried about us because we have a real quality coach now. LOL

I hope we make him correct for about 10 years straight.

Impressed, yes

Strongest staff - 2003:
Saban (GOAT)
Fisher
Munschamp
Dooley
Smart - 2004

I think BK has the potential to end up in LSU's records books as best ever. Don't order the statue just yet, but I would allocate some funds in 2032 budget (to be safe)

There is no arguing that. It was legendary, but I think we have better recruiters and now analyst.
