Lsu doesn’t have a true rival. However lsu does have the most secondary rivals. So there is that

If you think anyone's dad thought A&M was more of a rival than Ole Miss, Florida or even Tulane you are delusional.

The only reason Florida is a rival of LSU is that a zillion years ago they forced Florida into our permanent SEC East rival role over objections from crotchety old fricks like you.

Florida and Ole Miss both have other rivalries that are much more significant to them.

Arkansas is probably the only team that you could make a case for LSU playing as a permanent other than A&M.

Head-to-head records vs the 10 teams LSU has played the most looks like this in case anyone was curious.

Mississippi State 77-36-3
Ole Miss 65-42-4
Tulane 69-22-7
Alabama 27-55-5
Florida 33-33-3
Arkansas 43-23-2
Texas A&M 35-23-3
Kentucky 40-17-1
Auburn 32-24-1
Rice 38-13-5

Ole Miss/Moo State is a traditional rivalry that will always supersede LSU vs either of them. The same is true for Alabama-Auburn and Florida-Georgia. Tulane is not in SEC, so that leaves Arkansas, A&M, or Kentucky if you are going to try to use any sort of rivalry or history of games played for a permanent opponent.

Which is about how long the lie of LSU and A&M being rivals has been around. They are not rivals because no one from LSU cares about those figs.

They played every year until 1994.

A&M use to own us in the 90’s,

LSU and A&M had a 10-year agreement in which they played every year from 1986-1995 LSU was 4-6 vs them. LSU won the first 3 and 4 of the first 5 but dropped the last 5. That 5 game-winning streak is the longest consecutive streak for A&M vs LSU. If fact, the only time you can find a streak of more than 2 victories for A&M is the first three games they played in 1899, 1906, and 1907.

It's only stronger now because of the douchebaggery of A&M.

In terms of present day A&M is a bigger rival than Ole Miss. You guys are acting like this board isn’t absolutely buzzing every year the week leading up to the A&M game. Losing to A&M disgusts this fan base more than losing to Ole Miss does.

Any LSU fan who wants TAMU as a rival is an idiot. They’re not even a tier behind us in football, they’re multiple tiers. They’re a step above Tulane in the college football pecking order.

They have some history but almost no history of tangible success outside of a handful of conference championships. And most of those were in a weak SWC. It’s insane for any fan to consider them a rival. They may be annoying, but they are not on our level to be considered a rival. That’s a fact.

I don’t consider them one either but with all the constant threads about aTm on this board over the the last few years, I think it kinda makes sense now. They live rent free in a lot of peoples heads on here. I never understood that.

The players have felt a rivalry in this game for years. So your comment/opinion is irrelevant.

I rather enjoy hating aTm.

Actually, I pity them. But I hate them for making me pity them.

Ole Miss and State are actual rivals. LSU and Ole Miss had a period where the games were epic in the late 50's early 60's but we aren't UM's primary rival.

Florida became a good game now that we are not losing every year but we aren't their natural rival, that would be UGa.

No in state SEC School, we are stuck with A&M or Arkansas. It has been relatively recently when the SEC became this organized, we used to go decades without seeing some teams and teams and individual schools even played an uneven number of conference games.

There has to be an element of respect for a healthy rivalry. I don’t really respect Texas A&M, or anything about them.

Alabama has been our rival since Saban was hired there. The road to the West crown has went through Baton Rouge or Tuscaloosa for the last 20 yrs.

To prove your point, LSU has played Tulane more often than any SEC school except the Mississippi schools. even though we have not played them since 2009 and only played them 6 times since 1994

We have played Rice more often than Tennessee, Georgia, or Vandy and have not played Rice 3 times in the last 30 years, once this millennium.

In case some think this is hyperbole, LSU played Georgia in 1953 then next in 1978. Vandy 1957 then 1976. Even Auburn 1942 then 1969.

Tulane was our arch-rival but we beat them so badly, so often that we made them quit. We are everyone es rival, but they all got to keep their arch--rivals.

But Oklahoma is first and foremost for Texas.

what does that have to do with A&M. LSU will never be A&M's first is the point. Any rivalry with them is no different than rivalries with Alabama/Ole Miss/Florida. However, we have a lot more history with those other schools.

Some of y'all need to stop letting the SEC brainwash you into manufacturing another rivalry like they did with Arkansas. We're never going to have one, and that's ok

A&M only pretends to care about LSU at the moment because they're that petty when it comes to Texas. Historically speaking, they're bigger rivals with both Texas and Arkansas (et al) than they are with LSU
