While I credit some of the performance to inexperience, playing out of position, health, and tackling...I can't help but think that we misread alot of the film, and didn't make the right adjustments after seeing what they were doing in game. I put alot of it on the staff. Even if Leach had a good game plan, shame on our staff for not adjusting. I don't know if switching to zone would have created more incompletions but it sure could've minimized YAC. I feel like we coached too stubbornly and got burned by it.

Guess he didn’t need to saying anything about Brennan.....

A first year HC with limited offseason practice with a first year transfer QB torched LSUs defense for nearly 700 yards. Brennan needs to get better but LSU is going to go 3-7 if the defense can’t get it together.

Or maybe we had true freshman and sophomores playing all over the field in positions they have not yet worked at...

Actually, It almost looked like we had guys playing hurt having to chase the mesh route from boundary to field over and over again.

With MSU. Im sure you knew that when you read the post. Either way, the point still stands.

All things considered the defense made some explosive plays, 2 INTs, fumble recovery, Pick 6 even. Down 10 in the second half and got the ball back real quick twice. But offense sputtered and by the end they were gassed. And MSU could not run even when they tried, so they were going to pass and pass they did, on a thin and injury riddle secondary who lost an all American just before the first game after a crazy summer due to Covid. Yeh, I am willing to see what happens for a few games before suggesting the DC retire...

Thanks for posting this. should help understanding for those with the ability to understand.

You see, this is what happens when you get it from someone with first hand knowledge.

Evans was so bad, he embarrassed the whole squad. I’ve never seen a cornerback play as bad as him, I couldn’t believe what I was watching.

The most concerning thing I saw with Evans versus the other corners was that at least the other corners appeared to be very close to making the play. A half step away, a less perfectly thrown ball, a turn your head a split second sooner away from breaking it up or picking it, for a lot of the game, especially the first half.

Evans was steps behind guys on multiple throws down field.

This is the staff whiffing on DB recruits & attrition players leaving early.

Hey, wait a minute. Where does the "Omnipotent" (According to the Rant ) DB master recruiter and coach (Corey Raymond) fit into the puzzle?

I haven't heard a single criticism of him on here. (And Busch)

If the DB's look clueless, the DB Coaches have to take some of the blame.......

It’s all you practiced all week leading up to game. Your best guy goes out 12 hrs before kickoff. You already thin at the position. You’re fricked either way. You can’t just draw up zone with a stick in the dirt for everyone who’s already playing out of position. Good god people

Better question, why when you know you're playing an air raid team, air you only practicing man anyway? I know Evans and Ward's reasons were unavoidable because of just hitting campus and being out recovering injury but you had what was it 4 weeks, and you didn't use any of that time to practice zone, not just for Miss St but period? We should have been learning zone period because Stingley was the only corner good and experienced enough to man up on good WRs anyway.

He obviously knew what we were getting into. Man, I would have loved to be a fly on the wall while Jr and his dad were watching and discussing the game.

It depends on who made the call to flip flop positions pre game... I’m willing to bet someone was reluctant of the swap but the higher up made the “final decision.”

I do know we should be much better with Sting back opposite to Ricks.

I ran into some MSU fans on Sunday who said Stingley would not have made a difference.

I said, yeah, having a consensus All American DB on the field vs a passing game would not have made a difference at all.

Which would probably explain why we stayed man instead of switching to zone. Sounds like most everyone was playing out of position a lot of the game.
