I got the watch Espn app and it plays on the iPad. Good enough for me and I can bring it to work on Friday.

So I pretty much just confirmed that you do not need to login with a cable provider to watch ESPN3 content if your internet provider offers ESPN3 content.

If you're not sure you can go test it out right now. Try to watch one of the French Open matches on ESPN3. If you're able to watch then you will almost certainly be able to watch the baseball games on ESPN3.

How long ago was DISH added to this? I tried to access it last year for regional and DISH was not a provider....

Not really. An HDMI gives basically the same quality. I stream movies/sports all the time and you can barely tell a difference from regular HD TV
