You dont need an HDMI cable...I use Allshare to stream from my pc to my Samsung TV.

Only bad thing about the laptop connected to TV is all the connecting/reconnecting all the time and I personally don't like the clutter, not to mention depending on logistics maybe not being able to use laptop during game.it's worth a one-time $70-$100 to me to never have to deal with computer-to-tv again.
Streaming device is nice and tiny, connect it once and you never have to mess with it again. And it's dirt cheap price for what it does IMO

Another option is PlayOn. You can stream different content from the web via your PC to DLNA devices, such as a smart TV or WD TV Live.

Text one of your buddies and tell him to give you his cox user/pass
Or sign in with your internet provider as your cable provider, I've always had cox so haven't had to deal with those issues

Yeah that sucks. But u should be more pissed at your cable provider, not espn necessarily....espn3 and especially the watchESPN app are awesome things IMO, so glad they created them

Somone mentioned streaming through an x box. Will that work for a wii?
Please don't skewer me to bad for asking that question.

I have directv and I was able to stream espn3 on my iPad from hotel room as I'm traveling this week. I can't get the other espn channels though. Try again.

Do you have on older model roku ? Not sure exactly which ones, but some of the older models firmware can't get WatchESPN...this was actually the primary reason I recently upgraded to one of the newer models from the Roku XDS I've had for years.

Probably not.
Do you have a HDMI port in a Tv near a good internet connection? Plug an HDMI cord in, plug the other side into a laptop, and stream ESPN3

I believe mine is one of the earliest models. Oh well... Guess I'll stream from laptop. Thanks for help!

So with my Apple TV, I just turn it to WatchESPN and I'm good to go? No dowloading anything, logging in or signing up? Cool.
There's an ESPN icon on the main page
