on chromecast? you cant. you can only tab cast from a laptop right now.
to do that download the tab casting extension on google chrome. from there it its pretty self explanatory. just hit the cast button in the upper right window of your browser.

yeah, i know that. my computer is slow so casting tabs is horrible and my phone is a beast so i've been trying to figure out a way around it. i have another app that can send videos from other sites to chromecast (besides youtube, netflix apps supported by chromecast) but nothing for live events. sucks. The egg owes me $35.

It's why I bought the roku even though I had a chromecast. That and because they didn't have mlb.TV (they do now though)

so roku wouldnt be choppy from my computer or i could do it from the phone?

Roku just essentially makes your TV a smart TV. You don't have to cast from your computer or your phone. The roku itself connects to your Wi-Fi. It has watchespn and no it's not choppy

I have DirecTV for video and AT&T Uverse for internet. Signed up for an ESPN account. Went to access WatchESPN online. I had to select my internet provider, it then brought me to a page where I logged into my Uverse account. After that, it allowed me to watch any events that had "ESPN3" next to it via the WatchESPN platform. Any events that had something other than ESPN3, such as ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, etc... I was not able to watch online (I got a user not authorized message).
So I think this confirms that ESPN3 is tied to internet provider whereas the rest of WatchESPN is tied to video provider.
As a side note... I know the SEC Network is going to have a cable channel, plus, a bunch of online-only content. So, will it be like ESPN3, where you only need internet provider to have signed on to watch the online-only content?
Just curious if DirecTV does not sign on right away, since UVerse has. Could I watch SEC Network stuff online that is not tied to the video channel?

Correct, the dedicated streaming boxes, especially the better ones, i.e., Roku3 & Anazon's Fire TV will pass 1080P & 3D content flawlessly. Display of high quality content is every bit as good as cable or satellite including, Dolby Digital sound when included from the source. Content between the brands of devices have different strengths designed to play to their respective strong points. As example, Roku has the most apps available but there, many would be attractive to a rather fringe market rather than the masses. Fire TV leans on having the newest design with unrivaled quick response due to a quad chip processor twice as fast as its competition plus, 4X the memory. Additionally, a $99 per year Prime subscription gets you a load of free TV, movie & other content as well as free 2-day shipping on thousands of items and unlimited borrowing of ereader books from their lending library. My personal opinion is that the Fire TV should get a hard look if it's your first device or, if you frequently read ebooks or order from Amazon fairly often during a year's time. On the other hand, if you have a Roku or AppleTV, probably might just keep it - not enough advantage to make the swap.

ESPN3 will likely black out the game in LA, south MS and South AL

I'm in the exact same boat as you are with this stuff. Sure hope so, would be a convenient way around an intransigent DTV or cable provider if they don't get on board with SECN by August.
