Why would he leave LSU for Auburn?
He is close to qualifying for his pension in Alabama.
He is gone.

Going to Auburn doesn't seem worth it - Malzahn has gone 8-5 and 6-6 in the last two seasons. Anything similar next year and he may be gone along with his staff.
Coach O needs to learn how to coach a whole D if he doesn't already. He has been a D-line coach in college and in the NFL, a head coach, an interim head coach, but not defensive coordinator. It would make things easier.

Morris Watts did the same thing while on Dinardo's staff. Went back to Michigan State for the pension. It's not the most uncommon thing.

What I mean is trusting sources saying something is already done. Everyone and their mom said miles was gone, look how that turned out.

I think he's 6 years away

Well, I can see a move then maybe taking that into consideration. He could get axed from either school after next year depending on how things go, but LSU has more defensive talent and moving is a pain in the arse.

Splitting the buyout is pretty hilarious. Never heard of that happening. He is forking out $250k.

You are really defending your position for someone who is wrong. It's OK, we all say dumb shite sometimes.

Just using this to get more money and a longer contract.
I could tolerate him here next year under his original contract because I think next season is Les's last, anyway.
If I were Joe Alleva, here would be my reaction to Steele asking for a raise/extension:

quote:Muschamp made $1.6 million/year as DC at Auburn. How did his defense do there??
nobody is going to pay that and give him 1M+

quote:What logical reasons? If he's so interested in vesting why did he left Bama for LSU just last year? But now he is willing to forfeit at least half of his buyout just to become vested?
You're comparing firing a coach to a guy wanting to leave for logical financial reasons.
They must have some kind of crazy retirement program in Alabama.

Well you are overlooking the possibility he may have been asked to leave. It's not like our defense has been consistently awesome this year.

Well you are overlooking the possibility

Until he is officially announced the new DC he is on the staff.
........but DALSU says it's a done deal!

We were definitely soft when it mattered most. We gave up 299 yards rushing to Arkansas, 210 to Derrick Henry by himself and Ole Miss had their way with us as well.

@RossDellenger: Source: #LSU coach Les Miles meeting with school officials at team hotel. Tigers believe they've kept Kevin Steele.
