I’m not sure Ack can consistently extend. He seemed to be really straining on his longer outings.

I realize they are rehabbing but Noot and Shores should be in the future.

Is this just an LSU thing?

And have injuries in baseball increased over the years?

Might be my imagination, but it seems like it has.

Montgomery comes he could be in line
no he won’t, like Skenes batting he’ll be strictly a position player because that’s his future at the next level. Besides his numbers were not good this year on the mound.

us & Wake

I don’t think Wake will be quite as strong next year.

Not just an LSU thing. IT is nation wide and has increased over the years. Also is emphasized with social media and easier access to finding out that pitchers are hurt. The information out there is much more than it used to be. Mix of both of those makes it seem like a lot more injuries.

Their starters will be very strong. Curious to see what their bullpen ends up. I expect Massey to move from the bullpen to a weekend spot with Burns and Hartle.

Yea, a rotation of Burns, Hartle, and Massey is pretty legit. I think LSU will have the deeper staff though. Could be the deepest in the country if players pitch to their ability and guys stay healthy.

Fri-Hurd
Sat-Holman
Sun-Johnson

High Leverage - Jump/Ackenhausen/Coleman/Herring/Loer/Woods

I'm not even counting on Appleby, Noot, Little, Brown, or Anderson yet...the pitching staff as a whole will be extremely deep.

We need to tap the brakes a bit. It seems that injuries have been a problem for us in recent years. We will probably lose guys to season-ending injuries and/or nagging injuries (Noot, Shores, Taylor, etc). Some guys may not develop like we would like (Christian Little).

We don't even really know who our Friday night starter will be by year end. Hurd was pitching well at the end of this year, but he was inconsistent during the year. Does he step up, or does he step back? He seems to need to have confidence in his stuff to thrive.

We had a lot of arms going into last year, as well. Think how good that staff would have been with Taylor, Shores, Edwards, and Noot at the end of the year... The potential is there, but we need to be patient and let it play out.

You're right. We shouldn't be excited about next year even off the heels of a National Championship and a day after getting a commitment from a weekend starter.

frick us for being fans.

We didn’t know who our Friday night starter was going to be this time last year either.

Jay has accrued enough talent for us to feel confident whoever it is is going to be a true ace.

No. We should be excited. But after watching this for 40 years, I just know we're going to have to talk people off the ledge next season after we lose an SEC series...

I can just about guarantee you that it won't play out like we are guessing. If we could peek 9 months into the future, our starters, long relievers, and closers will probably surprise us. Some guys will be better than we expected and others will disappoint. But, we do have a lot of talent, and that is something to get excited about.

Johnson will be a weekend starter unless they decide to use him as middle relief and/or a closer

Really insightful stuff here.

"He will be a starter unless he isn't"

Thanks.
