Start Cowan. He has looked great lately.

He did enter the game with an 8-run lead.

After walking in first run he should have been pulled- leaving him in for another 3 runs is just bad management. Not sure what Jay was thnking.

Move Schmidt to Friday, start Evans Saturday,

Schmidt is likely to stay as the game 2 guy. It's not like Jay to just swap guys unless there is a big reason (injury). For a stretch last season, Eyanson was pitching better than Anderson, and there was never a chance of the two swapping.

Cowan seems like an obvious option. I don't think we really have anyone on staff that's had a long enough outing to give you more than 2-3 innings starting on Sunday. When Cowan is on, he can extend. If the opponent figures him out, you have to pivot to wholestaff. Cowan pitched 5.1 in the CWS last year and threw 3 complete games his sophomore year at Wofford. He has the stamina to chew up a lot of innings. To be honest, after two days of watching the velo of Evans & Schmidt, Cowan would be tough as hell to hit.

Evans has the ability to be the Friday night guy, but he's got to be more consistent. He's unhittable when he's on, but you can't walk six and hit two in the first two innings of a series. After getting down 4-0, he puts four zeros up on the scoreboard. With our jekyll and hyde offense, you don't have room to give away runs like that.

Guidry is good for 1 inning, and he's too inconsistent to be a closer.

same he’s been given Guidry a longer leash than others and I’m not sure why. It’s what cost him the Sunday game against Oklahoma leaving him in instead of going to Sheerin.

disagree because Evans was arse early against KY. You need your Friday guy to be elite and Schmidt has been elite. Evans can be at times, but he sucked against KY early. Move Evans to Saturday and make him prove he can be consistent
I don’t want a best on best matchup Friday, not with this team. I’d rather feel we have an advantage on Saturday.

Yes, it is a weak stance but I just don’t think we can put a good Schmidt outing in jeopardy.

Evans just needs to warm up with 60+ pitches before the game.

Guidry is not a starter. Guidry should not be starting. If you want to transition him to a starter do it in the offseason. If you want to run him out there for a few innings to start a game and pass the ball off to the next Johnny whole staff because we don’t have any other starters, then by all means Jay, do whatever you think is best.

start Evans Saturday, and start Fontenot or Sheerin Sunday until Cooper Moore is healthy

Okay, but I don’t see what this gets you. You are not getting nine innings between Fontenot and Sheerin, so does it matter what the order is - Fontenot, Sheerin, Guidry or Guidry Fontenot Sheerin? None of these guys has proven that he could give us four or five innings as a starter.

I don’t mind Jay giving him another shot at starting but that’s it. He’s not a starting pitcher. Experiment should be over

Guidry closing the CWS gets brought up in his defense so much

He gave up a run in 2 IP. thats not ideal unless you’re up 14-3

I hope you meant "the game that the scored more than 10+ runs". Because if not, this looks bad because the score was 17-10. Unless I missed something that is only won by 7 runs not 10+.

In 23, the final score was 18-4, right?
