Everyone knows gumbo tastes best the 2nd day so I’m cooking it now to sit overnight and eat all day tomorrow (unless I win Chicken’s ticket giveaway ) . It’s 90 degrees outside but inside my house I can make it 60 degrees if I want. Don’t tell me it’s too hot for gumbo!

I made a big pot on Saturday. My wife won't eat it after 2 days. I've had gumbo for lunch every day this week. I actually plan it that way. Just finished the last bowl about half an hour ago. And it's 90 degrees and humid as frick here in South Florida.

My wife has a 3 day rule... But I'm with you it's all good because that just leaves more for me. Gumbo, like most foods, will stay good refrigerated for at least a week. And gumbo actually gets better after a day or two in the fridge.

Having said all that....

It's too hot for gumbo baw!

Just kidding... I sweat like a whore in church anyway no matter what I eat so I don't see any reason to not enjoy some gumbo in August

I had gumbo and potato salad last night and I'll probably have it again tonight.

Tomorrow night I'm having bourbon.

Go for it.

You have inspired me. I'm heading to Rouse's for ingredients.

I'm sure it will get breezy in a couple days. Take care of yourself with the storm threat.

And

It's just plain too hot for gumbo.

What type of gumbo are you cooking? In summer and early fall I usually go with shrimp, crab, and okra (what Momma used to call seafood gumbo). Later in the fall and all winter I go with chicken, sausage, and oyster (file' gumbo). Either way, I like to let it meld overnight. Always tastes better the next day.

Good luck with your cooking this evening! Hope it brings you many rewards tomorrow too (like a 35 point victory for the Tigers)!
