that really is a very good question.
If somehow we burn our best pitcher to win a rout against the worst team in the regional and lose a close game in the finals....JJ is going to catch hell.

I mean how hard will it be to pack the Box for a Friday 2pm start? Just would seem for the fans and the community it would be easier for an later game because of work etc.

He would catch MUCH more if LSU were to get knocked out early because they were upset in game 1 while their 2 best starters were sitting on the bench

He burnt perhaps the best pitcher in LSU baseball history against perhaps the worst non-SWAC 4 seed in history. We ended up winning the CWS.

I mean have you ever seen a regional at the Box before? We play the afternoon game almost every time and it's full.

we have a 1A and 1B this year. This isn't the same as Skenes in 2023 (which worked btw). It really doesn't matter which one of Eyanson and Anderson pitches in game 1. The other will pitch in game 2. In no situation are we, or would any other coach, save one of them for a game 3. SO all of this quibbling over who should start is kinda dumb and pointless.

quote:it was well worth it because Tulane was ready to play even tho their win/lose was pretty bad. Wasn't it like only 2-0. We might have lost if Skenes didn't pitch. Its scary not having your ace for the rest of regional but it worked out. I think weather played a part in it also at that time?

There will be threads all week bitching about it.
I can’t drink as many Michelob ultras if the game is at 2!!

Sure I can. Its a regional, not a midweek againt Grambling. I want to win the regional and this gives the best chance to staying on schedule so thats what I want. frick "prime time".

IMO, the timing (2pm instead of 7pm) is best for our players all things considered.
As I believe there are easily 10K + local LSU baseball fans who will gladly come for a 2pm Regional game, the crowd should be fine. It certainly was in 2023 at 1pm.

If anyone listened to Johnson’s press conference preview of the regional, he consulted with Skip on the start time. Threw that out there to try to stop the bitching.

Its because if we lose we will be resting at home while the other team is playing and you don't have to play at 11am on Saturday

All it means is you will likely have to play two Monday
No real advantage
