The status of sacrifices has deviated many times.
But, essentially as it applies to our discussion, it has been that way since 1940

Honestly, I don't remember. I just remember the pitches being on the outer half.

15 to 25 plate appearances is a decent sample for comparison.
Actually it’s not much to go on. 25 plate appearances is about a weeks effort in MLB and we all know anyone can get hot or can slump in a week.
Too many look at these few stats and start defining players. They don’t mean nothing, but I’m sure the coach is looking at a lot more than just this.

Interesting baseball nugget: The SEC is implementing a 10-run mercy rule in conference play this year. If a team is up by 10+ through seven innings, the game is over.

Well that's going to seriously limit the reps our bench players get, since we are going to be up 17-2 in most SEC games by the 7th.

Either way I think the catcher situation will work itself out.
Just having a guy behind the plate that can catch a pitch is a major upgrade from last year.
And now we have TWO!
ANY offense is icing on the cake. Don't be greedy fellas. Enjoy this team.

I'm not a huge fan of this.

That should be Sundays only if at all
Posted on 2/6/23 at 1:39 pm to MorbidTheClown
Did Jim Hawthorne make that rule?

I absolutely hate it. This isn’t fricking NAIA.

Yea, that is terrible. I'd understand if it was a travel day for the away team or making up for a rainout or something. Not just because though.

Jobert's numbers thus far are absolutely insane

He's so streaky if he could just meet in the middle he would be fantastic. All last year he was either extremely hot or terribly cold.

Bench Milazzo
And Cooper. The Baseball Scouts of the Rant, dismissed him last season.

Let Pearson swing. He had a great freshman season and started out the fall facing probably the best SEC staff as a whole. He will hit and get his confidence back. I guess if not y’all get Kling and Jobert but I have faith the man who got robbed of freshman all sec.

Stepping in the bucket is not necessarily his problem. There have been some elite MLB guys who stepped in the bucket, and still mashed (Chipper Jones comes to mind).
But I think the book is written on Milazzo. He's not going to hit at a high or even average level in college. Should be a defensive replacement. Take your lumps with Neal.

I'm not giving up on Pearson at all. You are correct with he showed he can hit SEC pitching last season and did a really good job doing it. However, they have plenty options in the OF and if he doesn't get it figured out soon and bust out of the slump he is in someone else will be there to take his spot.
He might just be more of a gamer. Give it a couple weeks into the season and if he is still struggling then you definitely worry about him losing his spot.

He's currently the best receiver on the team. Putting him in as a defensive replacement means that, for instance, on an SEC Friday night we would have a lesser receiver both not stealing strikes and also potentially turning strikes into balls over the course of roughly 6-7 innings all so that 2 or maybe 3 plate appearances would be marginally better.
Is that the tradeoff you want?

Oh, we can talk all you'd like about his flaws at the plate, but a good start would be to stop bailing with your front side, especially if your name is not Chipper Jones.

Grant Taylor just striking out 76% of his recorded outs. No big deal
