I’ve been told that Paul Mainieri will be bring his former assistant Terry Rooney on as pitching coach at South Carolina. Rooney is currently Director of Program Development and Recruiting at LSU. Monte Lee also is said to be part of the staff. Formal announcement tomorrow by SC.

I thought this may be the year Jay didn't replace an assistant. Wrong.

Well crap. I really liked having Terry Rooney here, if nothing else as a backup pitching coach if needed.

It's support staff, easier to replace.

Yes and no. Coach Rooney was a really high level asset in that role. You are in principle correct, though.

Smart move by USC. CPM is the GOAT
You and Russian can now leave and join their coaches committee because you care more about him saying hello to you than LSU baseball.

The GOAT? Really? GOAT? Better than Polk,
Skip, Dedeaux, Gustafson, Garrido? NONE OF THEM. Hell, Corbin and the former USCe HC was better.

My understanding is he did a lot of scouting. If he indeed leaves, usc will know what we know about potential players.

While I agree, I was told Jay let him take over some things he had been personally overseeing.

Mainieri is going to be 67 when baseball season rolls around again.

Interesting choice for the Gamecocks.

I'm pretty sure little game Dave was more than happy to see Coach Mainieri retire given how bad he owned him.
