I don’t think he will like the transfer portal or NIL. I don’t see why he would take the job

lol. Well I’m on first-name basis with “J”. I don’t hate Johnson; I just don’t prefer his Coaching style.

He can hire Nolan Cain to join him. A&M ready to run him out of town after he sent Montgomery home and he was out by 2 steps and broke his ankle.

Maybe he just wants to coach? Doubt he “needs” the money. Some guys just don’t know how to live life after doing something their entire adult life.

This reminds me of the Gamecock's football program getting Spurrier.

This is bizarre. Good for Paul for getting one more payday before real retirement, but this reeks of pro athlete making a comeback and then shuts it down in training camp.

He didn't like recruiting before. Perhaps if you just point kids to money, he'll be more OK with that level of effort.

What I find a shame is he was really good on commentary that one game this year (I think against Vandy). Was hoping he would get into that.

Does that mean LSU can finally remove him from the payroll from his baseball emeritus role.
He was also advising BRCC baseball program.

Nolan Cain is a damn good recruiting coordinator regardless of how much this fanbase hated him

His plan might be to coach a few years with Cain and hand over the reigns

Does he get a membership to Augusta? Maybe that’s why he’s taking it.

Yeah this is an odd hire for a school that is a major baseball program.

They want more than being competitive.

The only thing that makes sense is Paul serving as a stop-gap and grooming the replacement.

This is the Ron Polk to Georgia. Doubt there will be a ton of success.

More like Kansas hiring Les Miles. It was out of left field and went about as well as expected as far on the field performance (wasn't great)

This is a very strange move on both sides. It seemed Mainieri was burnt out and ready to just enjoy life without the stress of running a baseball program. And a program looking to get back to the top hiring a coach that's been retired for a few years after burning out (meanwhile his replacement came in and immediately won a championship).

I'm hoping for the best for Mainieri and USCe because the SEC is fun when there's a good balance like we saw this season. If only the Tigers could've been up to their usual level.

Edit to reply to the comment above me:

Chicken would need to hire a shite ton more hamsters to keep the website running for that meltdown.
