Why did you look. Better to stare at the sun.

quote:do we have a video of him running up the whole way? because he's allowed to have his last step be outside the lane, per the rule.
The batter/runner is supposed to stay in the running lane (cannot place a foot on turf outside of the running lane) and then step in the bag.
What happened here is the batter/runner clearly has his entire foot 3-6 inches in fair territory, THEN stepped on the bag on his next step.
True, they do this all the time, and unless a play is being made on them from home it’s a non-issue bc there is nothing to call bc no play is coming from home.

Blue you rung batters up on that same pitch today...

DAMMIT! The pitching today (and really last weekend) against a great hitting borderline national seed has sucked me back into March level excitement level.

In this case a play was being made from home, runner outside the running lane, thus interference all day long.
The fix to this is to teach runners to stay in the lane ALWAYS, so it’s a habit.
That's all fine and dandy, but doesn't the rule mention the ump's discretion as to whether or not it interfered with the throw? If the ball hit Travinski in the right side of his back, shouldn't he have been safe, even by rule?

can we not just call fastballs down the middle?
