He does but I have to be missing something in the stuff department because most pitches floating in at 89 mph cock high are getting sent to the moon I don’t give a shite how cocky the pitcher is.

Well he’s throwing his off speed >60%, thus minimizing 89 mph dick shots. Also, which metric are you using to evaluate his breaking ball? Revolutions? Or just your eyes?

My eyes. I don’t exactly have access to LSU’s trackman and rapsodo data. If I did I wouldn’t be putting this question out there.

His pitches are just unpredictable enough to throw off the batters for a good 2 to 3 innings

He’s pitched in some big games in High School at Barbe. Those district rival games against Sulphur and Sam Houston along with the state playoffs he's learned how to pitch in intense situations. Those state playoff games are wild in Sulphur. Now he’s one more step up but he’s got the confidence because he’s done it before. His curve ball makes his fast ball effective. He pitches backwards so his FB seems to work faster than 90-91.

That mfr talks to himself on the mound. He looks like he doesn’t gaf and he pounds the zone. Id imagine that can be a bit intimidating lol

His stare down of the Kentucky batter that popped up to end the 8th inning was epic

I disagree, with many of you. I think he does have good stuff, he has command of his curve ball and makes them chase his fastball. That’s pitching babe, throwing it where they not comfortable hitting. That young man has heart and he don’t get rattled. He is everyone Floyd is not.

He throws strike one, he doesn’t play around with any hitter goes straight at them.

Certainly an element of this. His stuff finishes down also, no meatballs served. Location is really good. He works fast, with attitude. All of the above.

Sr Year in HS he was 8-0 with a 0.16 ERA, 83 strikeouts and 11 walks in 45 inning and he was also ranked nationally as the No. 13 shortstop.

Jay Johnson gave us this anecdote:

Gavin Guidry popped his head into his office after the news that Wes Johnson is leaving and said, “Hey coach, doesn’t matter who’s calling the pitches, I’m going to strike them out. Have a good night.”
