#LSU Paul Mainieri tells @1045espn it’s not official, but SEC is strongly leaning towards a 4-game SEC weekend, with no midweek games once conference play begins.

So I assume that would make 40 conference games, 12 weekend non-conference games and the remaining 4 would be midweeks in February/March.

It should be noted they would play full games Friday and Sunday, and two 7-inning games on Saturdays. Not really a fan of that.

7 inning games :vomit:

They cut him off on the podcast version, but it sounded like he was considering not starting hill in the 4 game week scenario, having him available for 2 games

Why not just play Thursday-Sunday if they're getting rid of midweek games?

That would just make too much sense.

Thursday-Sunday would be awesome. I don’t think they will do it though.

I’m sure there is some obscure sec rule that teams can only be on the road for 3 days or something like that.

I don't like the idea of two 7 inning games every Saturday. If they want to make a run rule past 7 innings to potentially cut times/innings played... Ok I guess. But not two 7's.

They won't say it, but likely to save money on travel expenses.

You are right but It’s also mainly optics. Kind of hard to keep pushing the student before athlete narrative when you are asking your student athletes to be away from campus they are students at for 4 out of 7 days being an athlete.

I don’t agree with it at all but I also understand that the SEC/NCAA offices think we are complete morons that don’t see the truth.

It’s also a money thing. They know they can get 4 games in three days and not have to pay for an extra hotel night while also increasing the tv inventory.

I’m loving the double header on Saturday’s. A full day of LSU baseball? Yea I can live with that.

Hate that it’s 7 inning games though

90 percent of classes are online this year. If there was ever a year to make an exception to "student-athlete" rules, this would be it.

I like the 4 game series. I don't like the F-Sun with 7-inning double header on Saturday. The deeper, more focused teams will win the most ballgames...not necessarily the most talented at the top end.

Again don’t disagree with this just pointing out the way these organizations think. 95 percent of what they do is to make as much money for themselves as possible the other 5 percent is to make whatever they are doing look like they aren’t trying to make as much money for themselves as possible.

We're still under the widespread rules of making shite up as we go because we got to do something even if there is no definitive evidence that it works.

I have yet to hear, from anyone, a good reason why they could not do Thursday thru Sunday.
