Some LSU fans are either joking or they apparently have never played baseball.
Some people don’t understand how baseball is played or how good coaches coach the game. It seems a lot of LSU fans don’t seem to get that in order to find your best 9 defensive players and your best lineup that it requires quite a bit of experimentation through out the first half, or more, of the season; especially when you basically didn’t have a season last year.

There are players who look great in practice but can’t handle the bright lights. There are pitchers who look fantastic in the bull pen with a coach chatting in their ear but collapse when they step on that mound 10”’mound under the bright lights.

Paul Maneiri really has no idea what he has at the moment in terms of his final line up. He thinks he knows where to start but he has a long way to go. He has no idea until the players prove themselves in front of the LSU fans. These fans calling for Maneiri’s head after the 2cnd game are either joking or they don’t understand the game.

If Maneiri expects to win in the SEC or at the CWS he needs to take some chances to let some players learn to get out of tight jams. If a player completely implodes then he probably can’t handle the pressure. Anybody that has ever played lot’s of baseball can tell you about many players who looked great at practice but can’t handle the pressure at game time. Maneiri is trying to eliminate those players as soon as possible through trial and error.

You've been here since 2014.

There are always fans calling for the HC to be fired after the first game/series every year in every sport.

Just acknowledge who they are know they shouldn't be taken seriously.

every team has to go undefeated or the coach needs to be fired.

Everything you just said also applies to an Air Force team that is way, WAY less talented and didn't have the same kind of practice time as LSU being that they're in Colorado. This talented LSU squad shouldn't be losing to freaking AF opening weekend.

Now, is that a reason to flip out and call for the man's job? No. But, it sure as hell is a bit considering our recent history of hitting woes.

The guy that started at SS yesterday has a .141 career batting average. I'd say it's time Maneiri accepts that guy cannot in fact handle "the bright lights."

oh I hated the O hire but have since been behind him and admitting my mistake. I can admit when I’m wrong unlike you can. Odell for instance

I was dead on about Odell. There are better examples where I was actually wrong about something

Then again I don’t look at coaching criticism in a vacuum. Mainieri hasn’t been on his game since 2017. There are numerous criticisms that hold water

A guy who didn’t win a starting job as a freshman and played some in his second year that was cut short. So far this year he’s played in one game. So the coaches have seen him in practice and seen his development and think he deserves more chances, but you don’t because you can pull up his career stats from less than a year and a half?

i happen to agree. His roster management is similar to how les was at the end. He has a talented roster he just has no clue how to put it together. He has become stale, i hope he can somehow have a magical year but the SEC is fricking stacked this year.

Talented baseball teams lose to less talented teams all the time.

2019 Vanderbilt lost to Austin Peay and Illinois State in the first couple weekends of the 2019 season.

The idea that losing to an inferior team is inexcusable in baseball is laughable. It happens. It just can't become a habit.

Excellent summation.

I don’t know if Bianco is going to come around or not, but obviously he’s done some good things in practice to get the coach’s attention. He has some power and we need some power.

If Bianco does come around in year three (his first full second year), he won’t be the first late bloomer to make it at LSU. Others have before.

Bianco playing doesn’t upset me. It’s early and that’s when you give guys who have been working hard and who are doing things right a shot. I hope he and a few other returning kids show improvement and with the promising newcomers we start hitting up and down the lineup.

They also lost 18-5 to Duke in the first game of the Supers that year... Corbin sucks

There are some legitimate criticisms of personnel decisions, but most of the “ shite on the baseball team” threads are focused on the loss itself rather than the issues that caused the loss.

The idea that a loss to Air Force is inexcusable is just plain uninformed.

We figured some things out this weekend, which is one of the main goals opening weekend. We know Crews and Morgan are as advertised, Arnold has potential, Fontenot is a proven arm, our starting pitching will keep us in games, Hellmers is not an option at 3B.

Relief pitchers throwing 94 and 97 for AF probably don’t have talent because they play for AF, right? Is that how that works?

Our players go up against that in practice every day. This isn’t the movies where a 94 MPH fast ball should lock you up.
