re: Some LSU fans are either joking or they apparently have never played baseball.

I just don’t understand how LSU’s starting 3rd baseman opening weekend is a pitcher that the head coach thought looked good picking balls in BP. He then had to ask what he played in high school, how does he not know, and decides to start him. That just shouldn’t happen at LSU. That’s some Class C high school shite, not the pinnacle of college baseball.

There are multiple first rounders on this roster.
Hill, Morgan, Crews 100%

Our players go up against that in practice every day. This isn’t the movies where a 94 MPH fast ball should lock you up.
You conveniently left out the 97 part. You know, the fastball that was also tailing away. In case you didn’t know, a 94mph fastball can lock you up pretty quickly. I didn’t say the players shouldn’t be able to hit it, but just saying we lost to AF when we have more talent doesn’t give the whole picture. So you’re acknowledging that AF threw some arms that have equal talent to LSU?

I agree with part of your post...

He’s already explained this. Helmers worked at first base some. PM liked how he did there fielding balls and thought he was doing better than his current options at 3rd base. He wanted to see him at 3rd base since he said he played there in high school. When they tried him at 3rd, Helmers apparently was more solid there then the other options had been. PM wanted to lock up the left side of the infield so we didn’t give up easy outs so he decided to start Helmers believing him to be the best option there. Helmers made some errors as a freshman opening weekend and now some people are acting like he’s always only been a pitcher and we were crazy for trying it and he should never see the field again. Pretty simple. Had he not made an error then people would’ve been saying it was a good decision.

Uhhhhh Morgan is not a first round draft pick at this point in his career and may never be. He is extremely talented at first base but to become a first round draft pick he would have to either change positions or gain some serious weight and be a legitimate power threat. MLB teams aren’t drafting an undersized 1st baseman in the first round.

4 in less than 2 games. Not “an error”.

Neither one of you can read I see

Morgan isn’t a 1st rounder
Reminds me of Brandon belt (went in 5th, very good player).
Even so, there has to be more scrap 5-9 in the order. Too many easy outs. Doesn’t matter if you have two first rounders.

I did. And I also read that you think no errors would mean less criticism. No fricking shite.
Kid had a terrible weekend. 4 errors and it could have been more. He doesn’t belong there. And he didn’t before. Paul is constantly chasing his Nola to SS move from 2009. It creates issues like this and kids being out of position because Paul thinks his gut is smarter than everyone.

I can read a box score unlike you.
It’s not the kid’s fault at all. Just a garbage decision by PM.

I never said he belonged there, but you had no clue he would make four errors or didn’t belong there. All we knew was that the people who watch practices believed that Helmers would be more solid at 3rd. Clearly that didn’t happen this weekend. To act like you knew he didn’t belong there is just silly. You had no clue. None of us did

You can’t read a post where I clearly said that he made some errors.

Well if you knew then you should’ve shown your outrage before the first game. I guess PM just decided to lie and say Helmers had looked better at 3rd. For what purpose would that serve? Seriously?

The National Champion loses to inferior teams every year. It happens in baseball. If it becomes a trend then it's concerning.
