Beginning to look like they are hitting the bottom for this year. What a difference that base loaded fly had gone for a homer. Looks like we are a dollar short on a lot of things.

Apparently, Beth hardly gets anything in the form of financial support. I wonder what kind of support these other schools get.

My understanding is that LSU is middle of the pack in the SEC in terms of funds used for softball, now that Texas and Oklahoma are in the SEC. And that's about where they have finished the last two seasons.

But I really don't follow softball much these days.

They've finished middle of the pack in the SEC for a decade straight now

Could be. I heard on a few different shows/podcasts that she was near the bottom. These were baseball podcasts that touched on softball, so they could certainly be wrong.

I'm just not sure what people want from softball at LSU. In the revenue share/NIL era, LSU/the boosters are being stretched thin and I'm not sure there's enough money for Beth to put together top teams. A school like LSU certainly can't be competitive in every single sport. There's just not enough money for that.

I'm not some huge Beth fan, but I think she's a good fit for LSU in this new landscape. Can field a competitive team that goes to supers and maybe the WCWS every 4 years or so. She's good people too.

FWIW, I certainly wouldn't mind softball getting more money, but only if it's taken from women's basketball and some of the absurd contracts that Mulkey and her many assistants have. I saw the other day one of her new assistants is making 400k/year. That's ridiculous.

Define middle of the pack.

2016 - 4th of 14 teams, the season ended in the WCWS

2017 - 6th of 14 teams, the season ended in the WCWS

2018 - 5th of 14 teams, the season ended in the Super Regional

2019 - 4th of 14 teams, the season ended in the Super Regional

2021 - 3rd of 14 teams, the season ended in the Super Regional

2022 - 4th of 14 teams, the season ended in the Regional

2023 - 5th of 14 teams, the season ended in the Regional

2024 - 6th of 14 teams, the season ended in the Super Regional

2025 - 9th of 16 teams, the season ended in the Regional

2026 - 8th of 16 teams, the season ended in the Super Regional

Can I try? If 1 is Top and 14/16 is bottom, then 7/8 would be absolute middle. Now using our excellent rounding skills, I can deduce that
2016-Push
2017-Middle
2018-Middle
2019-Push
2021-Top
2022-Push
2023-Middle
2024-Middle
2025-Middle
2026-Middle

And I forgot, No Vandy so it’s 13 and 15. My deductive skills may be off a tad.

Very average. It’s even uglier when you look at the details. They have mostly not even been competitive in super regionals since 2018 going 2-8 in the 4 appearances (2-10 if they lose this year). And lost 2 home regionals to in state schools the last few years.

When you look at LSU history after the way some folks talk about Torina, you would think LSU has some great history in softball. They do not. I guess if you value SEC titles over tournament and WCWS appearances. You would feel Beth is underperforming.

Beth Torina - 14 seasons, 1 western division or conference champions, 0 SEC tourney champs, 14 regional(s), 9 supers, 4 WCWS appearances

Everyone Else - 15 seasons, 7 western division or conference champions, 4 SEC tourney champs, 12 regional(s), 4 supers, 2 WCWS appearances

LSU - 29 seasons, 8 western division or conference champions, 4 SEC tourney champs, 26 regional(s), 13 supers, 6 WCWS appearances
