2012 team had 4 current MLB Pitchers and the 2015 2nd overall pick at shortstop yet lost to Stony Brook at home in a Super Regional.

Alex Bregman was not on the 2012 team. His freshman season, 2013, LSU went to Omaha. Aaron Nola was a freshman and was not the same pitcher he was his junior season. Two of the other pitchers in the majors, Goody and Rumbelow, were relief pitchers. LSU's starting 9 was not great and the starting pitching was very average outside Gausmann

Our players always look like their having fun.

Canizaro is a lightening rod and all our other coaches outside of Dunn are right out of college.

Do you think schedule doesn't play any part?

It's funny to hear anyone on the rant use that argument to discount LSU winning the SEC title in any sport because of the schedule. For the past few years, there has been a number of posters on the rant complain about the discrepancy of the difficulty of schedules between LSU and bama during the football season. There has been just as many posters who have downplayed the differences of these schedules and have plainly said "just win your games."

I'm not saying that you have been on either side of these discussions ell_13. It's just amazing how people will praise bama to no end for winning the SEC west during the bridge years when they had easier schedules than other teams from the west, yet complain about LSU winning a title and use the excuse that they had an easier schedule than their opponents.

I am the beacon of hope the football team needs. Balance is key.

You're right. Two completely different sports.

That doesn't excuse the fact that there are people on here complaining about the difficulty of LSU's baseball schedule. LSU won the games they had to win. The other teams didn't win enough, tough shite for them. Geaux Tigers!

Austin Nola was a better defensive shortstop than Bregman. Bregman was amazing last year, but a lot of his plays looked harder because he throws off the run vs setting his feet. Nola was textbook D and almost flawless.

Not expecting much this season but hoping to at least host a regional. Anything past that would be amazing, IMO. Going to be some major growing pains on the hitting squad. Hopefully the pitching is dominant.

While he may be a good coach, the demeanor Mainieri displays rubs off on his players. They play tight while he's squirming on the steps of the dugout looking like he's going to hurl. Give me Virginia's coach any day of the week. Their players look like they're having fun while they win when it counts.
LSU has one win in Omaha in the last 6 years.
I don't see how we can be this critical of LSU baseball and be so lax with LSU football. LSU baseball has outperformed LSU football over the past 6 years. We have been having great seasons lately but struggle in the postseason... Do any of you really think that LSU football hasn't struggled in the postseason?
