I lived in Mobile for years and have a ton of friends who went to Alabama. They’re actually my second favorite SEC team.

I never understood why people think just because I’m an LSU fan/alum I have to automatically hate Alabama. I’m sure I’m in the minority.. just my two cents.

Now Auburn is another story. Hate those frickers.

I watched the game and dont like either team but I thought bama would win.

Thats not pulling for them, thats watching them and realizing they are the best and where we should strive to be, not 5-5.

I don't PULL for the Gumps per se, but I think by this point the downside for LSU to them winning an NC isn't as bad as them getting there and losing.

Bama is a known commodity. Saban has created an absolute machine over there, it's foolish for any program to think they are even near Bama's level, much less on it, and I think most players being recruited can see this. Sure, a team can get one here and there on Bama (LSU 2019), but for the most part they are untouchable. Wouldn't it be worse for LSU if say Clemson had beaten Bama for a third time? Or OSU for a second? I think that shows recruits that there MIGHT be other teams that can regularly hang with and beat Bama, and LSU isn't one of them.

Maybe I'm full of crap, just how I see it now. That said, I don't actively root for the Gumps, I just don't think them winning hurts LSU as much as it did early on.

I think with the older fans, there's less of a hatred between the two programs.

My dad and one of his sister's pulled for LSU. I always root for LSU when we're not playing them. I also know a lot of older LSU fans who had a lot of respect for Bear Bryant and would continue to pull for Alabama when they played out of conference. Believe it or not, amongst us older fans, there's a lot of mutual respect but I kind of get where it is now.

A lot of us older guys root for Bama in these situations (or Georgia, Florida, etc.) because when we grew up the south was very disrespected in the AP polls. i'm one of the old guys at 67 and i will not nor have ever pulled for the gumps.
i don't have any fealty toward the "SEC" because of the abalama leaning administration and referee filled officiating progs.

Ohio State losing was delicious never the less; no love there at all but was hoping they would make the gumps melt.
