He's been at ND for 17 years and people think he's going to leave because he might be friends with Alleva?

Well scratch him off the list

I don't think anyone thinks he's going to leave. Most of what I've seen on here is "why do people think Mike Brey would want this job?" "no idea. guess he needs a raise" googles sees he makes 1.7 million. Good agent.

Buzz
Bret
Prohm
Wade

In that order for me. But I'd expect our final 3 to be Mussellman Stansbury and Davis

I've started to try and look at filling our jobs like Alleva does. To start, I disqualify everyone with any real achievements unless they have been fired or used to coach here.

I'm thinking the candidates are Crean, Gottfried, and the former assistants.

Musselman followed by Collins then Beard are my top 3 choices. Wouldn't mind Stansbury either.

I don't think Collins will leave. I like Musselman for the job.

Notre Dame is one of my favorite teams to watch. Give me Brey all day.

word is he "may" have a personal thing that "may" make it the right time to leave.

Who knows, but he's definitely a guy you put a call in to and see if he could be interested.

I really like Musselman too. I'm not 100% sure bit I think Nevada is him alma matter but he's been here before so there's a chance. Northwestern has committed money to the program but word is Alleva and Collins are close and he's going to be the top target. As far as him leaving Northwestern has never made an NCAA tourney and have no culture whatsoever. LSU is the only big school in a talent rich state and the sec has a more clear path to the top than the big ten does. With the way things are here and Alleva and kings rep it's going to be hard to pull anyone away from a decent job but those two are the best chances we have. There's also Beard who is an understudy of Bobby Knight and has done well taking over for tubby smith. The other guy is Rick Stansbury who's openly stated he wants the job and has won in the SEC and recruits this state better than anyone.

He doesn't fit "proven winner" but neither did O.

As far as I can tell, the connection is doesn't make a ton, was at Duke while Alleva let Coach K run things. My prediction is Brey almost doubles his salary and we get cucked.

I believe that's called "gettin' the Jimbo"

Brey went to Northwestern State for a time, so he does have somewhat of a Louisiana connection.

1. Brey
2. Crean
3. Miller
4. Pitino
5. Musselman

1-4 are unrealistic. I'm leery of Prohm because it's tough to determine whether his success is due to Hoiberg, who was really the architect of ISU's resurgence. Buzz Williams got out of Marquette for a reason. He left that program in worse shape than he found it.

Well it certainly should not be the ND coach at 1.7 mil/yr and if Alleva goes there I will alledge he is a Catholic member of Catholic Charities after selectling a certain Ex-ND baseball coach whose team can't even beat in state rivals.

Prohm's teams at Murray State in the Ohio Valley Conference were better than what LSU has put on the floor the last two yrs. I noticed JJ's winning percentage at LSU was almost the same as what he had at NTSU. Prohm's winning percentage is up there with the top coaches. I admit he would be a risk but probably a worthy one.

He's not exactly a sung hero in the college coaching ranks, but why not give Mike Davis of Texas Southern a chance? He's done a great job with the Tigers
