Does this fanbase turn on him? It's still hard to believe LSU is 0-4 the past four years.

It will confirm a pretty troubling precedent that this staff cannot evaluate/prep in the offseason well. Good news is with an expanded playoff it no longer kills our chances at a championship. But it would be concerning

I understand wanting to play entertaining opening games but with how grueling an SEC schedule is there is nothing wrong with a tune up game.

Many in this fanbase didn’t like Burrow in 2018, what do you think they’ll do?

I’ve thought about this a good bit. Losing to FSU the last two years has been very disappointing. No easier task on hand this year with USC.

My guess is they are going to spend all off season trying to make Perkins an inside linebacker just like last season, only to fail again miserably during the first game. If that happens again, it pretty much confirms that the staff is horrible at game planning and personnel decisions over the offseason. Which is concerning if that's not something that can be spotted by the head coach before it comes crashing down in prime time.

It will suck, fans will be pissed, and be another notch to his resume of not being able to beat top teams. Besides that, nothing will happen and we will move on with the rest of the season.

Despite the turnover at LSU, USC has some major issues. Riley refuses to get defensive players. I don't think our defense has close to the issues they have even without 2 DTs we're probably gonna get. Our offense has plenty of experience to navigate the schedule early on. FSU had a decent defense which tripped us up.

Losing that opening game sucks more for the ego than it does for the program. If we lose to a top 10 team, it doesn't hurt that bad. Now with a 12 team playoff, we can afford it. Win out and you're still fine. You can maybe afford one more 5-8 ranked loss and still be ok.

Well the good news is that USC won't be in the Top 10 to start the season, so Kelly should have no issues in 2024.

It's not just losing but the way we lost...2 years in a row he did not have his team ready for game 1....that's concerning to me and neither games are Coach O's fault.. He's been gone!!!

Last years game was troubling as the defense showed how bad they are. USC has a good offense, this game will tell a lot. I worry about DT and corners still

Actually, a much easier task. First, USC and LSU each play their first game without a rent-a-game. UCLA and one year FSU had a tune-up game whereas LSU did not. Second, USC's program is in semi-chaos right now. Riley is on the hot seat...coaching changes, heir apparent QB left the program, and the USC defense was actually worse than LSU's last season. This will be incredibly disappointing if LSU doesn't win this game by multiple scores.

It means less now than it did in years past. Nobody will remember if they still make the playoffs at 10-2 or 9-3.

For me, it would mean no way I’m going to Clemson in 2025.
