So we have players each year threatening to enter the portal, and the coaches have to find

a way to pay them to come back?
More and more just stopping caring about this sport and college athletics.
Seems like Sage Ryan situations are going to keep happening and hurt this program and many others.
Just let any kid with their hand out leave if it happens. It's no coincidence these rumors come out and then the player says "nevermind" after getting paid.
Sickening.

When you have talented players, you can tell others to leave. However, BK is facing challenges with player retention. As a CEO-type coach, he struggles with keeping players.

That's fine. Just don't come back on here and complain or want to fire the HC if the team goes 2-10 because it can't compete. Whether you like it or not, that is the world of college football today.

This is the entire sport now.

The alumni & fanbase is spread out everywhere but the majority is from here in Louisiana. You know Louisianians are terrified of change. They will kick & scream until the bitter end at the slightest of change.

So LSU is the only program in the nation with players leaving for the draft & entering the portal?

South Carolina payed one of their player 1.5 million to come back
We gotta get with it or get lost

I thinks teams should come up with a rule that is you enter the portal, you lose your spot on our roster

While I feel your pain on this I guarantee none of us would sit next to someone doing the same job at the same proficiency while they are making bank and you are not.
I used to interview a lot of people for plant jobs that pay well. Probably better than 50% of the time I would get asked "what do you like about working here?" and I answered the same way every time... the fact that they are paying me. I like what I do but if they didnt pay me I would not be here at all. And nobody else here would either.
I once had a mgmt training class on motivation and inevitably someone said money was a big motivator and the instructor immediately corrected this. He said money is not a motivator at least not in the long term. You quicky assimilate that value into your self worth and the minute you find out you are underpaid or paid less than somebody else you get demotivated because you now feel unappreciated and taken advantage of...
The moral of the story here is that none of these guys at LSU/SEC level are playing it for the love of the game and the program. That is not a cynical take. Everyone involved here is getting something out of it and if they are not then they quit.

This is an LSU board so why we are talking about other teams.

The rule is already in place but it is the coaches choice to let them stay until the bowl game. I believe they also forfeit their scholarship

Because we are discussing the transfer portal. Despite what numskulls like yourself think, LSU isn't the only program losing players via the portal. Yall muthafrickas just desire any reason to bitch, complain & melt.

This is not supported by any facts.
LSU rarely has an actual contributor leave. Most are backups, or starters being recruited over.

You should have been "payed" to play school.

Josh Pate predicted this on the nose

i think you should only be able to enter the portal once. If you do it twice you must sit out a year. Hell it used to be if you transferred you had to sit out a year unless a coach released you.

Out of the 14 LSU players that transferred last year out of the portal, only 2 started for their new team this year. Two!!!
LSU is NOT losing serious contributing talent out of the portal. They are mostly losing kids that simply don’t belong here. Kids that aren’t talented enough or hard working enough to be an actual contributor.
