Or... think about this scenario:

What if, God forbid, LSU loses in the SEC championship game.

How far do they drop? Does Alabama jump to #1 and LSU fall to #2 or lower?

That wouldn't make sense, because LSU had to play an EXTRA game that Bama wouldn't have to play.

Plus, LSU beat Bama. So how would that work?

Would not matter. Bama and LSU still 1 and 2 just maybe reversed. That would be crazy by the way same 1 and 2 play twice in a year only reversed.

I have always said the only way Bama can get to the NC game is to win the SEC title, otherwise, voters will not send a team that didn't play an extra game to NO. Also, why is Bama ranked #2 in BCS anyway? Their SOS is not better than any other one loss team.

Well you'll be wrong. And you'll definitely be wrong if OU beats OSU

This is how it is. I realize Oregon is on here. But that's immaterial regarding a potential rematch.

Per lsumatt:

Its hard for a lot of reasons. 1) One spot is already taken by the conference champ, so the other team is fighting for only spot, 2) By not playing in the CG, Bama has one less game to improve their computer score, while teams like Oregon are playing a tough 13th game and 3) voters don't like it and will avoid it if there is another viable option.

But there isn't anything from keeping it from happening. I personally think Bama has a rematch shot, but it is still an uphill battle

Osu (the only other possible team to play in the national championship other than bama or Arkansas or LSU) also does not play in a championship game.

I think that if Okie st. beats okie, they still have a slim chance of getting in. Just because the voters will not want a re-match

We beat Bama in their house - end of story. They do not belong in the NCG. Plus, their schedule out of conference was pretty weak.

I am in agreement with you, that is why I think that Okie St. still has a shot to get in barring a loss to Okie

Saban.

He's just that much better than Miles.

He planned this whole thing out!

LSU would be lucky to have him as a coach.!!!!

I'll take Les and this staff any day over that little ego maniac. Saban is a true prick of a person. We beat them in the Dome if there is a rematch, even though it is hugely unfair with all of the surrounding circumstances.

I find it funny that some rantards truly believe that losing to Bama would have been better. Had OSU, OU, and Oregon not lost, Bama may not get their shot. Hell, they still might not.

I like our chances against Bama in NO. It will be a completely different game. I don't expect any 9-6 grind out game. I think the offenses will be rested and ready and will figure out ways (Miles trick plays) to score touchdowns.

In the above scenario bama benefits from losing to LSU at home. that makes me :

I'm not happy about that scenario either, but it is what it is. Either LSU, BAMA, or Arky is going to get shut out of the NC game no matter what happens, maybe two of them. So all we can do is have our team put on their jock straps and do what needs to be done. If we win out we go to the big game, AND we get an extra game to celebrate, tailgate, get drunk, or whatever you do on game day!! We are 11-0 and in the driver's seat.

if LSU beats Arky but loses to UGA in SECCG, we could end up with a LSU vs Bama as first BCSCG where there is no conference champion. This happens all the time in sports with playoffs, but college football world will meltdown over it based on tradition as they know it.

National Championship game is Jan. 9. SECCG is Dec. 3rd. I don't think 5 weeks of rest vs. 6 weeks of rest is going to be a disadvantage. Either way, it's too much time.

This has always been my problem. Not really pissed about the possible scenario of playing Bama again, just that they would get an extra week to rest/prepare. It's basically like saying "Great job LSU....your reward is that your opponent that you beat in their stadium gets to rest while you play a top 15 team in their own back yard..."

3) voters don't like it and will avoid it if there is another viable option.

This is a bigger point than most are saying.

That has been my sole argument against the talked about rematch with Bama.. Bama doesnt win thier division, much less thier conference... gets to sit home and watch LSU put it all on the table in the SECCG, then gets rewarded with another shot at LSU in the NC? That would be horrible. I truly dont see the voters allowing that to take place.
