SaintLSUnAtl So We Beat Arky, then UGA, Bama sits at home resting... This has always been my problem. Not really pissed about the possible scenario of playing Bama again, just that they would get an extra week to rest/prepare. It's basically like saying "Great job LSU....your reward is that your opponent that you beat in their stadium gets to rest while you play a top 15 team in their own back yard..."

Georgia fans are already booking rooms, making plans, and buying tickets while LSU still doesn't know if they'll be going. Serious home field advantage for UG.

Basically we have to win the SECCG to earn the right to play Bama in the BCSCG.

National Championship game is Jan. 9. SECCG is Dec. 3rd. I don't think 5 weeks of rest vs. 6 weeks of rest is going to be a disadvantage. Either way, it's too much time.

It is a very long time to rest up, but playing that one more game that BAMA doesn't have to play increases chance of serious injury, It gives BAMA one more game tape to watch, it is also one more opportunity for us to slip up and have a bad game.

That's not the point...the point is if there is a "rematch" in the BCSCG, Bama benefits by losing to LSU in the regular season, causing LSU to play one extra game (SECCG) and giving Bama extra time to prepare for the BCSCG. My greatest worry, though, is LSU will play one extra game than Bama where a significant injury can occur.

Like who? Va tech?

Actually yes if you really want to know...

Va Tech's only loss is to ranked Clemson which if things hold like they are they will play again in the ACC title game...

Also if you read lsumatt's breakdown the ACC still has 4 games against the SEC, if they sweep those 4 games Va Tech's computers rankings will climb and if they win the ACC then that puts them as a one loss conference champion...

A one loss conference champion from a BCS conference gives the human voters an alternative to a rematch against a team that didn't even win their division let alone make it to their conference title game...

Oh well...It is what is is.

LSU is in the best position in the country. Win, and we're in.

Everyone else is going to have to wait til the final BCS standings are releases to know for sure where they are going. LSU doesn't. We win, we're in....simple as that.

Alabama is now the college football equivalent of a welfare recipient.

But the principle behind a potential "The Rematch" would only further prove how ridiculous this BCS system is. IMFO.

What would this have to do with the BCS?

In a playoff system, Bama would still sit at home while LSU went to the SECCG, and then get into the playoffs and possibly get another shot at us even though we beat them.

BCS picks the two best teams. If all the other undefeateds or 1 loss teams didn't choke, Bama wouldn't have gotten the rematch.

Who should LSU play IYFO?

BCS should just cancel the BCSCG and give it to LSU?

We're just butt hurt that we have to work so damn hard while Bama gets to back into it. I'll admit part of my frustration comes from not wanting to play Bama again. The sad part is LSU will not get any real respect if they win out. It will no doubt be the hardest schedule ever played by a team.

In a playoff system, the better team does not go on the road for an extra game while the lesser team gets a BYE week.

Completely agree.

I think it sucks that Bama would get another shot too, but other than OSU, no team would have a legit argument. If OU beats OSU, it has to be Bama. They would deserve it. They are clearly the best 1 loss team in that scenario.

I'm not nearly as worried about Bama as I was right after the game.

Our passing game was as bad as it possibly could have been, save for one of those picks going to the house.

We didn't force the pass because we didn't have to. We were never down by more than 3.

Our O can, and will, play much better than it did. Bama's O gave us pretty much everything they could. AJ simply can't beat our secondary. He doesn't have the weapons at WR to attack us that we do on O.

Bama's only hope to score on us is for TR to break long runs IMO. He played a great game against us, but like David Pollack said, runs that looked like TDs against anyone else, ended up getting stopped 20 yards downfield.

I honestly think Bama played about as good as they could on O and LSU played much worse than we are capable of.

LSU in The Dome will leave no doubt.

Uh, yes they would. Would there no longer be an SECCG in your imaginary playoff system?

I don't see how people keep saying this. I'm not so confident that this will happen.

It wouldnt surprise me if the voters put another 1 loss team (WHO HAVE TO WIN THEIR CONF) ahead of bama. Very possible.

VT and OSU still have outside shots. Of course OSU would have to beat OU first and Clemson losing didn't help the ACC champions cause.

What's the other choice?

If Okie State beats OU - I think the choice is clear. If Bama stands alone with 1 loss, and Houston is the undefeated C-USA champs....

Bama is better than Houston, but, if I had the final say so, I would say, "Yeah, go ahead Houston - good luck in New Orleans and G-d Bless".

However, I don't have the final say so. The rules say #1 plays #2. If we're #1 and Bama is #2, we'll see ya'll in January. If we're #2 and ya'll are #1, ditto.

This is a very important point. I think a lot of voters from other parts of the country will simply refuse to put two SEC teams in the championship game against each other. (rightfully so IMO). If there is *any* other legitimate alternative they'll take it. "legitimate alternative" includes V Tech and OSU, assuming they win out, and it includes Stanford, if Oregon State beats Oregon. It might include Houston if all those guys lose, but even if some voters are willing to put Houston in, I don't think they'll get enough votes to be a consensus candidate.

Bama will not even win their division or come close to the conference. BCS has to impose that rule to exclude these teams.
