How he is the best DC in the country, and if anyone can stop LSU, it will be Clemson and Venables. We are being told he will analyze every game LSU has played, exploit what has worked and weave it into his game plan. Loves to blitz...Joe better be ready. AND, they have the front 7 to get it done.

The above statements are not my words....just what is being said. I think every DC in the country would plan the same way. Venables is very good....is he heads and shoulders about everyone else? I didn't think that.
So, it comes down to execution.

We'll soon see. Will LSU light up CLemson like we did for OU? Probably not! But, can Clemson shut down LSU enough to allow their offense to jump ahead? We'll know soon enough.

I think we win, but it will be close. I think this will be a game where we may score in the high 20's or low 30's. I do believe Clemson has the talent to win the game and after having two weeks to prepare will be ready. But the Tigers will also be ready!

What is less focused today is LSU's D versus Clemson O....perhaps we'll have good success

What nobody seems to realize is Ensminger and Brady will have the same amount of time to thoroughly study Clemson’s defense and find all of the weaknesses to exploit.

Venable’s is good as would most DCs in that league with that talent. He is a product of a horrible conference with superior talent.

I assume he'll try to copy Auburn, who ran 7 DBs damn near all game, but they have the Line to do that. Clemson doesn't have the skill in the front or back to get that done. Simmons will be the best LB we've seen all year but theres only one of him.

Clemson got exposed by OSU. It’s gonna be ugly.

This AND what worked against LSUs offense doesn’t even work for a whole quarter because we are able to adjust so quickly. Look at Auburn they surprised us a bit in the first, we adjusted and moved the ball.

Just because that front look for Auburn worked doesn’t mean is continues to work.

Venables was Dc (I think co-DC) at Oklahoma....Back when their offense lit everybody up and they had absolutely no defense! You know...back when Kansas St. routed them in the conference championship game the season we beat them for the National Title.

I agree with what you said. Clemson is as, if not more, talented than LSU from a recruit ranking standpoint. Imagine how our offense and defense would look against their schedule.

He is a great one but I also feel like we've faced some other greats in Auburn, UF, UGA and more. I am confident our staff will continue to prove they can scheme with the best of them.

He got fired at Oklahoma, or at least pushed out.

He’s a hell of a coach and they have some serious talent, but the only thing slowing LSU down would be self-destruction, I.e. several turnovers and/or other costly mistakes.

Brady said Georgia played a defense they hadn’t studied all year when we played them in the SECCG and they figured it out after the first drive. I’m sure our coaches will be ready for whatever Clemson decides to throw our way. I trust Joe under pressure more than any QB in the country too. The numbers back it up as well.

How much of his reputation right now is built on holding Bama to 16 last year? Because I think that was a fluke built on bad play by Tua and amazing play by Clemson d linemen now in the NFL.

They gave up plenty of points in previous playoffs.

Also, it helps that they played a close semifinal against a talented offense in that we know he wasn't holding anything back in that game.

Oh and they were saved by a terrible play by OSU.

Hope Clemson realizes we run a fast pace game... 25 plays with no substitutes. We need uptempo to start

What everyone is also missing is that our receivers have been covered all season and Burrow still throws the ball to them and they still come down with it. Go look at half of Chase’s touchdowns, they were when he was covered like a blanket and Burrow still put it where Chase could get it. Same with Jefferson. You can’t cover them any better and they still caught the balls. Venables can’t coach that away.
