IIRC he threw Bregman under the bus for his mid season slump his last year. Bregman, Who was clearly pressing and I think was frustrated that he wasn’t getting the same ownership out of his teammates. I’m sure Bregs is an arrogant little shite and is probably off putting to guys who are there for a scolly. But to question Bregs of effort is absolutely insane.

Paul Mainieri has a guaranteed contract through 2024. He is not going to “retire” and walk away from that. If we want him gone someone is going to have to step up and pay about $8 million. I’m just guessing on how much is guaranteed, but I think he makes about a million and a half. What this means is that CPM is going to hang on until the last vestige of doubt remains. IMO, That moment will come when season ticket sales drop to the point that our revenue takes about $1 million annual hit.

It’s almost like people’s contracts aren’t restructured all the time.

I said this last weekend and got hammered but I’m gonna say it again. Paul is an a-hole and his players hate him. He needs to go.

Bingo. There it is.

Well, he probably shouldn't gave taken out the pitcher that was doing well and bring in someone who is inconsistent and gave up the lead within 2 innings and 10 batters.

He should really look in the mirror, he is making the decisions and putting these kids in those positions.

I don’t understand. It’s apparantly guaranteed. To “restructure” a contract BOTH parties must agree. You think CPM will agree to less pay? Or do you think LSU can restructure the contract without Mainieri’s permission?

Why is it bad for Paul to throw his players under the bus, but okay when orgeron does it?

Doesn't O usually point out a group, instead of a single player?

Walker wasn't "doing well" when Mainieri took him out. You make it sound like EW was mowing down batters.

He threw a 0-2 a batting practice fastball thigh high over the middle of the plate to the lead off batter in the 5th inning after he'd thrown about 60 pitches and the result was a base hit.

He then walked the next batter who was batting number 9 in the order.

So there were runners on first and second with 0 outs and a 3-1 LSU lead with the top of Arkansas batting order was coming up.

Walker gave up a really hard hit ground ball to first base that got the runner on first in a fielder's choice at second base for the first out of the inning. So, there were runners on first and third with one out.

Walker was struggling at that point.

I know I was hoping at that point that Mainieri wouldn't do what he does so many times and leave a struggling pitcher in until it was too late. I was happy to see Hess coming in the game.

Hess allowed that lead batter who got the base hit on the 0-2 count to score on a fielder's choice but got out of the inning with LSU still leading 3-2.

Using 20/20 hindsight, sure, maybe Walker would have gotten out of the jam. But he may also have given up a 3 run home run at that point, too.

He caught some hell for calling Brossette "the 3rd string back" after the Troy game. I also think he said something about Giles last year.

Both comments were rather innocuous compared to what Mainieri does though.

He also told the BR Rotary Club's luncheon before the season, "Brossette is a great running back. Well, not a great running back but a good running back."

Brossette said in that local TV sports segment last week that when he saw the video of Orgeron's remarks that evening he thought to himself, "Coach O doesn't believe in me."

Yeah O is just as guilty of it, it’s well known he has got no problem whatsoever throwing anyone else (player, coach, administrator) under the bus to save his own hide.

To the players themselves, not the media.

Bertman would just tell them it is not your fault it is mine for recruiting you. I don't ever remember him throwing players under the bus.

Maybe people should use legitimate reasons to be frustrated with PM instead of idiotic ones. Those idiotic reasons are going to get called out around here.

Pulling Walker who was beginning to struggle for Hess who helped us win the only game we won last weekend made sense.
