That accountability starts with the coaching staff. Saban has notoriously excused bad behavior for players he needed. At some point common sense should supersede a hard line. Make him run extra sprints or some other punishment.

Accountability doesn’t have to mean missing a whole game, which the team ends up losing.

Also, I agree Kelly had to change the culture, but so far, results don’t support the belief that he is getting that exactly right.

But you really think we should have kept Womack on the sideline over a fricking smoothie?

Somebody probably told him he better not be late to pick up that frickin smoothie.

No ones frickin special. The job isn't just what you do on the field.

It’s a fricking smoothie! He wasn’t smoking weed in the locker room or acting an arse doing something else. You have to know as a coach what penalty fits the crime and if you’re going to sit a kid who had 3 game changing plays in the 5 measly snaps you gave him the week before against a tempo team that ram almost 90 plays on offense and had your defense gassed then Kelly deserves all the criticism he’s getting. When Womack decides to transfer after the year because he was held off the field for one reason or another, mostly just because Kelly hates playing freshmen, don’t come whining on here about accountability and doing the right thing. Make the kid run more at practice if you want or even sit him the 1st quarter but not playing him an entire game WHERE HE WAS NEEDED is unacceptable.

Seriously!? You agree we shouldn’t have played Womack AT ALL because he was the last to pick up a fricking smoothie?

Do you really think this is the first line of punishment? I’d imagine his being late has become a habitual issue to take the repercussions this far

STFU he gets paid to coach football not to be their parents or boss. Will see how that plays out when he loses the little talent left on this team to the transfer portal this off-season. This ain't Notre Dame it's LSU and if you don't have edgy players in the SEC you will be irrelevant.

We really don’t know all the details, now do we?
This isn’t about a smoothie. This is about what I am assuming are pretty clearly defined guidelines and expectations. Also, as someone else pointed out, if it cost him a whole game, it likely wasn’t his first offense.
As far as everyone saying they should cut him slack because we need him…I’d say you’re what’s wrong with America today.

It’s not a joke. Real life shite. Just like Denver Harris got in his doghouse for being 3 minutes late to a team meal.

Someone may need to remind Kelly that he's not playing the fricking service academies every week. I don't mind discipline but unless a guy is picking fights in bars or slinging drugs/guns around BR, they probably should be playing. I mean, whatever happened to running steps for chrissakes?!

Ed's team won a Natty, with a freshmen CB, Stingley and a freshman Safety, Brooks.
Stingley din't have problems covering and Brooks could tackle.

I've been seeing a few references to Brooks starting as a freshman and have no idea where these come from. He was a situational pass rusher and I doubt he actually started a single game. Further, he only played in 6 games and didn't play in the SECCG or playoffs. He had one big sack against Florida and a few hurries.

He had 8 tackles for the year.

Why are people pointing to him as some big piece of the championship team today?

He was late. frick man if you're trying to establish accountability and other positive attributes within your football team, or anywhere really, being ON TIME is where it starts.

There's not a frickin professional organization in the world that would say otherwise.

If he didn’t play because he can’t be on time for something or broke some rule I don’t have a problem with that. What scares me is if they think Savion is that much better than Womack or Swinson. I don’t remember seeing Swinson much either. And if Speights keeps starting over Weeks because of “inexperience” then BK and House are bigger idiots than I thought.

You make them run stadiums or some other punishment. You don’t put your team in a position to lose just because you have short mans syndrome!!!

Recruiting will continue to be subpar and eventually people will be worn thin of Kelly’s bullshite.

Hate to break it to you but LSU football isn’t some professional organization. It’s a college sports team comprised of 18-22 year olds. Punish them another way other than playing time.

Kelly needs to get over himself.

Punish during practice or in other ways. We need our studs on the field.

Na. Youre pretty frickin wrong.

Showing up late is a bad look and disrespectful as shite to the people that strive to be on time. Youve got to be a pretty arrogant bastard to not see the simplicity of the requirement. The little things matter, and not being on time for your team says alot about your priorities.

The good news is people can make mistakes as long as they learn from em.

Agree

Him being accountable would be wind sprints, running the stadium....

Being held out of the game makes the ones who did things right accountable.
