you dont think Saban could have taken what he built and gone AT LEAST 10-2, 10-2, 12-2 with a NC!! if you dont think he could have equaled or better that your insane...
Saban wouldve won at least 1 NC with the 2005-2007 LSU teams. And it wouldnt have been with 2 losses. IMO. I think he'd have won a NC in 2006 with that roster. I still dont know how LSU managed to lost 2 games that year.

Now come on dumbarse, Saban has more of Shula's guys starting for him than Miles did. Get real, son.

Saban had five seasons to do THIS and he didnt....keep romanticizing.

Why didn't he do so at LSU?
Answer: Because the SEC office didn't instruct refs to call games in LSU's favor on a weekly basis.

Because most people can't see the forest from the trees. Alabama is hot right now, people are getting on the bandwagon. Just like they did for LSU during their run and UF on their run. IMO, there are too many good coaches and programs in the SEC for ANY team to dominate.
Finally. A reasonable opinion. And from a Bammer, no less. Proof that anything can happen.
Congrats. Great win Sat. night. I look forward to seeing Saban go up against Muschamp & Brown.

Alabama's 5th years, Seniors and Redshirt Juniors are all Shula recruits. Explain the difference with Miles situation. Shula could coach and recruit, it was just so bad there coming off probation that he didn't have enough time to start winning on a consistant basis. Am I saying Shula is a better coach than Saban, no, but he would probably be winning 10-11 games last year and this with the talent he collected.

quote:He did. 2003 we only lost once. After a few years, the program was rolling. QB issues in 2004 but in 2005 and 2006 LSU had a seasoned team full of NFL talent, probably as talented as the 2003 squad. Yeah, I think Saban couldve gotten through 2005 and/or 2006 with less than 2 losses, and definitely 2007 wouldnt have been such a roller coaster. The defense wouldnt have collapsed like it did. IMO.

do you seriously think that things will change?
I'll be a broken record here because I posted this last night in another thread.....c/p job

IMO, teams are as good as their QB. 99% of the time, this is the case. If the QB is mediocre, the team is mediocre. If the QB is good, the team is good. If he's great.....well, you get the idea.
This is why I haven't jumped ship yet. I disagree with some of the things he has done, but what can you do? Jefferson is still young. What? 2 days younger than Barkely? He's improved, sure, but you can't expect him to be great yet. People continue to say it's a developmental issue but I disagree. IMO, he's developed at about the same rate as most have in the history of the game.
He's gotten better as the season went on, which is a good sign. His numbers are decent. He's played a little above average this year and the team did too. Which proves my point in the first part of my post. The team this year was just above average.
That's where I stand with Miles. I don't love him, nor do I think he's completely incompetent. If he were, do you think they'd have the success they've had? "Win with talent alone" is a bullshite argument. Kids don't just go out and make up their own plays and gameplans like a backyard football game.

Bama could have easily lost to South Carolina, Tennessee, Auburn and LSU this year.
isnt that a favorite comment of some LSU "fans" to talk about the games LSU SHOULDA lost?

Amazing. I seem to recall only horrendous officiating in Tuscaloosa prevented LSU from having a shot at defeating the 'Tide. Throw in the bad fortune of the trifecta of injuries and it's difficult to understand how folks could construe 'Bama into being so much better than LSU right now. They are simply a little better, particularly in line play. If the exact same scenario plays out next year in Baton Rouge only with 'Bama getting the official shaft and a couple of key injuries, then LSU would probably prevail. The talent levels are close and could swing back to LSU just as easily next year. Do we need the coaches to call a better game and do a good job of "coaching up" all this talent. Damn right. But I believe the Tigers will be the most legitimate threat to defeat Alabama next season. JMHO.

Because he now has Mike Slive and the SEC refs to insure the victories.

He will not dominate anything, but those classless bama fans....they will be the reason he leaves one day...

i just prefer to point to his ACTUAL record at LSU over 5 years.

I'm so sick of all this Saban love on here. The guy constantly used LSU for his betterment. He always held it over our heads of how good he was and how lucky we were to have him, always flirting with leaving for the NFL. Will he/won't he???
The guy lost plenty of games he should have won. Had an 8-5 and a 9-4 record mixed in. Wasn't all glory like most seem to remember.

Saban's offensive coordinator has put him over the top this year! He is better than Jimbo when Jimbo was at LSU under Saban. Saban defense always good but not dominate at Bama. Saban has to win a championship after getting humbled by NFL

Oh yeah... also you might remind these guys of the number of Shula players that "left" the program when Saban showed up. They volunteered to not come back. Why? So much for this being a Shula team.

What no one has mentioned about Saban being undefeated in the last two years in the regular season is that he did not have to play Florida either year (in the regular season). I am by no means a Miles lover, but they have played a down Tennesee team each year while we are playing Florida. I know they played them in The SECCG, and they lost one of them. this year they won that game. Still think Saban is better, but this does make a differnece and is a BS scheduling issue with the SEC.

On Defense: Washington, Arenas, Deadrick, Anders, Reamer & Woodall
On O: Johnson, Davis, McElroy and Vlachos
Those are the signed by Shula starters. I seriously doubt that we would have won 12 games last year or this year had he remained. I like him and am thankful for what he did but the job swallowed him.

Les Miles has proven this year that it is, in fact, entirely possible to win a NC and SECC while being utterly incompetent. A dynamo QB(RP), a few fourth-and-1 conversions, and an elite DC is all it takes.
Speaking of DC's, I lost count of how many times I puked watching that Nebraska Defense Saturday night...Wow...

It does help Bama that AU, Tenn, and LSU have been down, and they dont have to play Florida. On the other hand, if the SEC is down, LSU shouldve done better too. LSU has struggled against mediocre Arky, Ole Miss, and UGA teams.
