Crazy speak I say. Did you happen to catch how often we were on TV this year? We are currently a consensus 6 or 7 recruiting class right now and that's with a down year for LA HS talent.

Really anything in the top 10 recruiting is about equal. If my memory serves me correctly some of the best players that LSU has fielded the past 8 years have been 2 and 3 star recruits. Dorsey, Hester, Tyson Jackson, Kyle Williams. Who knows how many of these guys are in last year's and this year's class.

He's pretty much speaking the truth. When Saban took over at LSU who in the SEC was dominant besides Florida. Spurier left pretty quick and they went into a few "down" years. LSU started the SEC coach price war. Not until Saban got the big contract did SEC schools start paying that much for coaches. The SEC is a LOT and I mean a LOT better top to bottom now and for the past 4 years.

A lot of times these things work out for the better.

Give me a break. You must just hate LSU or have no clue how to judge football teams. UNC won't stay on the field with us. We will have an experienced QB next year and a better running game. 10-2 minimum. We beat Florida in the swamp, book it.
"Big difference from LSU which continues to perform WORSE as Les' recruits take over compared to the previous teams in his tenure at LSU."

This is a stupid statement and how can you prove it? Miles won a NC in his 3rd year, not 2nd like Meyer and Saban could win one in his 3rd year we will see. Saban went 9-3 in his 5th season and if anyone remembers that team didn't look pretty doing anything that year. They almost and should have lost to Troy that year. UGA smoked us and then the debacle in the Cap One against Iowa. There are cycles with programs and it usually hinges around the QB. We are cycling into better QB territory with Jefferson having another year under his belt and the emergance of Garrett.

Porter was part of the Problem

According to a couple of HS coaches I know that work LSU summer camps, Coach Porter moving on will help. They said that he was the hardest person to get along with on the staff and that most of the staff and players didn't get along with him. He never saw eye to eye with Crowton on running game issues so that caused some problems. The only running back he favored was CS and KW and SR couldn't stand him. This is one of the reasons KW didn't see much playing time.

I think the offensive staff will be more together this year on things.
I don't think it will be that big of an issue. He calls the SEC all the time for ESPN. At least the primetime SEC night games. I've always like his analsys.
This "Elite" crap is ridiculou! We are elite. Florida has been elite since Spurrier took over. Just because we go 9-3 in a season doesn't mean we are not elite. Saban went 9-3 in his last year at LSU and we remained elite. In fact we won 11 games in a row for 3 straight seasons. There cycles to when you can put runs together. Once you are an elite program you are an elite program. We will always get recruits because of the facilities at LSU, the Atmosphere and exposure. Are you saying USC is not an "elite" program anymore becaus they lost 4 this year? They have a freshman QB, we have a 19 year old Soph.

I swear some people just won't let Saban go and give Miles his due. By the way all of Saban's upperclassmen at Alabama are Shula recruits.
What does "throw down field" actually mean? Aren't most passes down the field? Saying throw down field is like saying catch the punt or tackle that guy or run towards the end zone. I get so tired of hearing "throw down the field". Do you mean throw deep? If so what solves anything by throwing deep all the time?
I would pull for the Taliban if they were playing Alabama.

Saban is winning with Shula's recruits. How is that different from Miles winning with Saban's recruits? Miles went 9-3 this year with his recruits and a 19 year old QB. Let's see what happens next year to start making these assumptions.
Alabama's 5th years, Seniors and Redshirt Juniors are all Shula recruits. Explain the difference with Miles situation. Shula could coach and recruit, it was just so bad there coming off probation that he didn't have enough time to start winning on a consistant basis. Am I saying Shula is a better coach than Saban, no, but he would probably be winning 10-11 games last year and this with the talent he collected.

Record was 9-4 when he won the Heisman. Hardly competing for the NC.
No reason whatsoever to pull for Alabama. That would be as bad as pulling for the Taliban.
Nobody would be. That's a lot of what ifs. None of that is going to happen. Who will our 5 losses be to? Fans would turn on any coach if those scenarios came to be.

Reading this post makes me tired.
Good Special Teams and a positive turnover margin.
Quar-ter-back!!

That is all that matters. You have to have a mature/experienced QB in the SEC.
Give me a freaking break. Miles record while at LSU is of "Elite" status. Don't give me this "he won with Saban's" recruits junk. Saban is winning with Shula's recruits right now. All of his 5th yr Sr.'s, Sr.'s, and Red-shirt Jr.s are all Shula recruits. The only reason LSU fans don't like Miles is because he's not Saban. If Saban was at LSU the past 2 years with the same records nobody would be saying the program was in decline. This is really getting ridiculous.

And by the way Nebraska really tore it up after Solich was fired, they have sucked ever since. Including this year. Their division is a joke and they are going to get smoked by Texas.
Lafell for sure and Black probably. Everyone saying that Ciron won't because of his "bad season" doesn't know what they're talking about. OLmen are graded more on technique, skill, size, ect. Not what kind of "good" or "bad" season they had. The guy was the best of our OL all season and when he doofus next to him misses assignments he suffers for it.
"I wish i had a dollar for everytime I have read the above words."

Tell what was Colt McCoy's record in his true Sophomore year as a 19 year old? What about John Parker Wilson? What about Chris Leak? What about David Greene? Peyton Manning was 11-1 in his sophomore year and Tebow won the Heisman in his but those guys only come around once every 10 years. JJ is going to be better with age and experience you can't argue with that. If you want to watch and see next year or the year after. Maybe you will realize you don't know what you are talking about after that.
Considering he's only 19 I think he did pretty well. Age + Experience make big differences. They are both equally important in QB's. Look for him to be MUCH better next year.
Our point of attack needs improvement. Defensive Line improves and the yardage allowed will improve. We have a great secondary and good linebackers. If the DL is not getting sacks or plugging runs teams are going to get yardage. As the field gets shorter secondaries and linebackers have more of an effect. I know that sounds weird but they don't have to worry about deep threats when teams are at the 15 yard line. The DBs can play up and the linebackers can play closer to the line and less in pass coverage.

LSU's DL should be better next year and you will see an improvement in yardage given up.
I calls a game like I play NCAA football 2009. Call everything in the playbook, with a different play each down and series. No ryme to when you call what and when. Score 70 points.

Except he only scores 21.

Next Years' Preseason Ranking

Posted by jacks1120 on 11/19/09 at 1:51 pm
I think we should all be pumped about the rest of this season and beginning of next year. If we win out, and we should, we would finish the year on a 4 game winning streak (we'll win the bowl). Ranked in the top 5 more than likely. Head into next season with a returning Jr. QB, talented RBs, Russell Shepard, Rueben Randle, a lot of the defense back, Patrick Peterson!!, (hopefully C Jones). That puts us legitimately in the NC hunt. We catch Bama and Ole Miss at home next year and play a Teabow-less Florida on the road. Plus all of that talent will be more mature, most of our really good players are still underclassman, except Lafell.

We will probably be ranked in top 4 for sure. A lot of what ifs but its better to start out as high as possible to have some equity in case you drop one early on, at Florida for instance. Next year could be great.
I grew up in MS and live in Jackson. There is no place I would rather not go to, but on the other hand see an LSU victory than in Oxford. I usually tailgate in the Grove because I have so many friends that are Ole Miss fans and I'm usually treated well by them. BUT....I have never been treated as bad as there either. The students are arrogant and condescending. They yell at you call you corn dog and coon arse and trash, amongst other things. This is why Miss State people hate Ole Miss so much is becasue they are treated like redneck, second class citizens by Ole Miss fans. Don't go up there if you aren't ready to get insulted.
Yeah sorry about the "beleave". I'm tired.
Sorry about the "beleave" there. Long day and its not done yet.

I personally like coach Miles and hope he stays. For the record.

I know this will stir some "what ifs" but what if? You have to beleave there is the possibility they will come calling. I'm not saying, but I'm just saying......
I just don't think the program being down has anything to do with it. We still had tons of talent with what DiNardo left behind. We weren't that far removed from 3 straight bowl seasons and Shula was fired during a bowl season for Alabama.
