Is O the best coach in college football?

Saban wins when he has advantages in all 3 phases.

Appears to the same with Swinney.

He’s doing a damn fine job. Anyone that says any different just never liked him, and probably will never like him.

9-4 and 10-3 got the other coach fired, so not sure if you really want to consider this "winning" in this argument

O is doing great, but don't use hyperbole to set people up to try and do some "gotcha" argument

No.

The losses are what got Miles fired. Obviously the offense resulted in the losses, but if Miles was winning championships by smashing into 8 man fronts, he would still be coaching at LSU.

Holy shite you can’t be this stupid can you? SABAN always had advantages in all 3 phases at Toledo? Michigan state? LSU? Ur beyond dumb. He’s the best coach in nation. Has a great d in Cleveland. Had highly ranked defenses in Miami.

Saban was always a good coach but he wasn’t that highly thought of, or supposed to be the next big thing, when he came out of Michigan State. He wasn’t even one of LSU’s top choices and they got him by chance actually. He ended up being great when he got the schools (LSU and Alabama) to give him complete control and started getting the best players and putting them in his system of control.

Part of the reason he didn’t do as well at Miami is because you can’t control the players as easily and he didn’t have an advantage in personnel.

You are right.

I forgot to throw in the REC, so Saban wins when he has advantages in all four phases.

A good coach eliminates the issues.

The other coach was going 9-4 and 8-5 his last 2 seasons and clearly the team was regressing that is why he was fired

Can’t penalize Saban and swinney for building teams that have advantages n all 3 phases.

O deserves his praise absolutely. He fixed the offense in the off season. Now it’s time to fix the defense.

Uh, we were 9-3 in '15 with a cancelled game against McNeese... so essentially 10-3. I would call a 2 game improvement from the '14 record the opposite of regressing, but I don't have an agenda.

inb4 someone says I think Les shouldn't have been fired.

No shite.

But the whole point is that all anyone cares about is wins vs losses at the end of the day.

He's doing a great job. He does NOT have massive problems on defense. LSU has a good defense. Our main defensive problem is that our fans have catastrophe syndrome, and they need something to panic about.

Our second problem on defense is that we only have one good safety on the roster and he's injured. We are patching it together with Stevens, a linebacker, Vincent, a corner who is also injured, Flott, a freshman 160 pound corner, and Cam Lewis, a journeyman safety.

Our third problem on defense, and one we share with 90% of the defenses, is that we can't get a great pass rush with our front four.

These problems cause us to go from great to good. I think good is working just fine, and anyway, there's no sense whining about it because it can't be radically improved this year.

I was cautious about the hire. I believed he could probably have some success, but wasn't sure about sustainability. We will see how the season plays out, but the ride has been awesome.

As great as this season has been, here's what should get fans salivating. Recruiting has elevated to a level that we haven't seen before. I know we've had a #1 class before, but the old rules allowing you to recruit more players than team X skew some of those rankings. From a class average standpoint we are going to field our highest ranking ever and we are still moving some players out to make room for elite players asking to be let in. We are truly a national brand right now and we are capitalizing on it.

The coaches, admin and players all deserve credit for making this happen and I don't see 2019 being a 1 off great season. That doesn't mean we are going to win a natty every year, but we are on the verge of being a truly dominant national team.

but you do....even if you dont want to admit it....to minimize any criticism of Miles.

Also love the way everyone counts that McNeese game even though we never played it.

going 9-4 and 10-3 isnt what got Miles fired, it was going 8-5 and then going 4-5 in his last 9 games here combined with running an offense that was going to give us limited chance of any future success, along with a lot of other problems that were starting to catch up to him
